CoD4 info from PC weapons files

OK - here's info from the PC weapons file that have been posted over at other forums based on my queries. The surprise for me is that all the snipers have the same range and damage.

All weapons have two damage values and two range values.
The higher damage and smaller range are up close. Lower damage and farther range are long distance.
Assault rifles keep their damage for a longer distance over SMGs.
When the distance is further than the first range, the damage gradually drops to the lower value.
Once beyond the long range value, damage continues at the lower number.
A range of 2000 is somewhere around 50 meters.

Example, the MP5 does 40 damage within about 18 meters.
After that, damage drops and keeps going at 30 damage after 25 meters.
M4 would continue doing 30 damage up to 37 meters and drop to 20 after fifty meters.
While the MP5 does 30 over the M4's 20 after that range, the MP5 has a much sharper kick, while the M4 can let loose an entire magazine with next to no kick.
Damage, range, kick and sway, among other things, are all factors that keep the weapons balanced.


ASSAULT
All rifle ranges are 1500-2000 (750-1500 silenced).
The AK47, M4A1 and G36c sway from the center of the screen.

M16
DMG: 40 - 30
ROF: .065 (925~ rounds per minute) / 3-Round Burst
NOTE: Minimum 0.1 second delay between bursts, effectively cutting ROF down to about 750~ RPM

AK47
DMG: 40 - 30
ROF: .085 (700 rounds per minute) / Automatic
NOTE: Red Dot sight and Silencer drops damage to 40-20 for some reason.

M4A1
DMG: 30 - 20
ROF: .07 (850~ rounds per minute) / Automatic

G3
DMG: 40 - 30
ROF: .05 (RPM irrelevant) / Semi

G36c
DMG: 30 - 20
ROF: .08 (750 rounds per minute) / Automatic

M14
DMG: 50 - 40
ROF: .05 (RPM irrelevant) / Semi

MP44
DMG: 40 - 30
ROF: .1 (600 rounds per minute) / Automatic


SUBMACHINEGUN
Only the AK74u sways. When sighted, you still move almost nearly as fast as though holding it at the hip.
Weapon (damage ; firerate ; range)

MP5 (40-20 ; 800RPM / 750-1000)
Skorpion (50-20 ; 850RPM / 200-400)
AKs74u (40-20 ; 800RPM / 750-1000)
Uzi (30-20 ; 950RPM / 750-1000)
P90 (30-20 ; 925RPM / 750-1000)


LIGHT MACHINEGUN
None of the light machineguns have any sway.
High speed, low damage. Medium speed, medium damage. Lower speed, high-medium damage.

M249 SAW
DMG: 30 - 30 (mounted SAW is 130)
RNG: Irrelevant
ROF: .065 (925~ rounds per minute) / Automatic

RPD
DMG: 40 - 40
RNG: Irrelevant
ROF: .085 (700 rounds per minute) / Automatic

M60E4
DMG: 50 - 40
RNG: 1000 - 1500
ROF: .01 (600 rounds) / Automatic


SHOTGUN
These shotguns are tame compared to their COD2 counterpart.
One thing of note: Aiming down the sights with the shotguns WIDENS the spread of the shot.
The Winchester's movement speed while ADS is close to normal running speed while the M1014 slows you down.

Winchester
DMG: 40 - 10
RNG: 300 - 500
ROF: .283 (200~ shells per minute) / Pump Single
SPR: 4 hip spread, 5.5 sight spread

M1014
DMG: 30 - 10
RNG: 300 - 600
ROF: .2 (300 shells per minute) / Semi
SPR: 5 hip spread, 5,5 sight spread


SNIPER RIFLE
All rifles are the same in accuracy, sway and whatnot. All have 70-70 damage.
Only the kick is different and the difference is in the direction the view moves.

M40A1 - 5 round mag - Kicks in any upwards direction
M21 - 10 round mag - Kicks very little but in any direction
SVD - 10 round mag - Kick up and.or to the right
R700 - 4 round mag - Kicks up and/or to the left
Barret - 10 round mag - Always up and to the right


PISTOL
The Beretta M9, USP and 1911 all do 40-20 damage, Desert Eagle and Gold Eagle do 50-30.
The only differences between the pistols are range and ammo capacity.
The Eagle has a more accurate hip spread.

BER: 250- 500 range ;15 rounds ; 150-350 silenced
USP: 450-1000 range ;12 rounds ; 250-650 silenced
COL: 350- 900 range ; 8 rounds ; 250-500 silenced
DEA: 350-1200 range ; 7 rounds ; no silencer

C4
DAMAG: 200 - 50
RANGE (blast radius): 256 (Manual Detonation)

CLAYMORE
DAMAG: 200 - 50
RANGE: 256
ANGLE: 60° Forward Trigger (Self-Detonation)
DETON: .23 seconds (click and then boom, so a guy has a quarter of a second to move out of the range of the 90° cone blast)

FRAG
DAMAG: 300 - 75
RANGE: 256 - 0* (5-second fuse)

FRAG (Martyrdom Perk)
Fuse reduced to 2.5 seconds.

GRENADE LAUNCHER (universal, attached weapon has no difference)
DAMAG: 155 - 25 (Dud Impact does 135 damage)
RANGE: 300 - 0
DIST: 375 (Activation distance, about eight meters)

SMOKE
DAMAG: None
RANGE: 512 (1 second fuse)

FLASH
DAMAG: None
RANGE: 800 - 200* (1 second fuse, will detonate in the air)

STUN
DAMAG: 40 - 1**
RANGE: 512 - 0* (1 second fuse, will detonate only after hitting ground)

*The ranges on the frag and Stun start losing damage/stun effect immediately.
*At less than 200, the Flash will be at full effect and become gradually less blinding up until 800 range.

**The Stun grenade blast will do 40 - 1 damage depending on range.

A lot of interesting info here. Some observations:
- The M4 and G36 do the same damage (30 - 20) but the M4 has a higher rate of fire
- The M16, AK47, G3, & MP44 do a bit more damage (40 - 30) with the AK47's higher fire rate giving it an advantage
- For the SMG's the Skorpion has very high damage at very short range.
- Everyone talks about the P90 but it appears the Uzi has the same range, damage, and slightly higher fire rate. Although the big magazine on the P90 helps it.
- Looks like the LMGs are well balanced - you can trade damage for speed of fire
- Shot guns: confirms that most any other gun gives you an advantage
- Sniper: I'm still surprised they all do the same damage. So pick an semi auto with the 10 round magazine.
- GL's have slightly more damage but the thrown nade does more damage.

Any other observations?

Well, while I'm surprised that the sniper rifles all do the same damage, it really wouldn't make sense for them to be different anyway. There'd be no point in, for instance, the Barrett to have 80-80 damage, since it's still gonna take 2 shots to kill someone (assuming NON Headshot).

The chart also confirms something I figured out by experience (heh, unfortunately): there's really no point in using the G3. Might as well wait for the M14 if ya really want to go single shot.

In case you were wondering - your normal damage you can take is 100, 30 on hardcore, 200 on oldcore.

EDIT - more info:
Stopping Power Perk multiplies bullet damage by 1.4

Sonic Boom Perk multiplies explosive damage by 1.25

Juggernaut multiplies bullet and explosive damage by 0.75 (to decrease it)
Juggernaut literally cancels out Stopping Power and Sonic Boom. No increase, no decrease.

Are you sure these figures are correct? A lot of the weapons seem to be the same, so what would be the point in having different damage values on the bars?

Also if, for example, the AK-47 does the same damage as a G3, surely you'd only need like 1 bullet to hit at long range on HC mode to get a kill (like the G3)?

I spot checked the numbers between three sources. I haven't verified every number and I personally haven't combed the files but the spot checks matched.

I don't know, I mean maybe the in-game ratings for each gun just aren't an accurate representation of the true values? The figures just don't look right though.

I would say that the graphs that are show within CoD4 are misleading for the most part.
