indeed. you either make one or buy one, unless you can work your way up through the ranks in a very big site.

[edit] really, though, whether it's worth all the hassle or not depends on your motives. if you want to be an admin for the rank and title, or because you want "power," it's not worth it and you're likely to do badly. if you're interested in contributing to a community that you like and watching it grow, though, it's well worth the trouble.

And don't forget, if you want to create your own site and be an admin, you will most likely be prepared to spend money.

a very good point. you'll also need to know a fair amount about the net, hosting, etc. as well as how ip addresses work and about the forum software you'll be using.

it isn't something to be taken lightly, but if you're still interested after hearing this, i expect you'll do well and i wish you the best of luck.
