View Full Version : Bought a New Sony CD-RW/DVD, but 1 problem.

E:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Look behind the drive where you had to attach that looks like a ribbon, does it connect to any other drives before it goes to the big mainboard?
It maybe because you have it jumpered wrong (master/slave) where it comes master but it might need to be set slave. Then again make sure your connections are good also.

Yea, i have 2 drives, the sony one is on top and i have another that is a regular cd-rom that came with the computer, that is on bottom, so it could be the master power cord the one that has lot of tiny square holes in it and not the power one right?

Yea, thats the ribbon cable, thats also being shared by the top cdrom drive right? if it is go check the manual for your cdrw and find out how to set it to a slave drive. That should fix your problem.

Oh, ok, and 1 other thing, like when i restart or turn the computer on, the light on the cd-rw will flash longer than usual, but the cd-rom flashes shortly, you know what that means?

It's just detecting a cd in there, no problems.
