Hi all, looking for some input for new hardware. I just bought an eVGA 7800GT OC video card so that ought to run COD2, but I'm still shopping for cpu, motherboard, heatsink and power supply. Any suggestions?

I'm currently looking at:

Athlon64 3200+

Asus A8N-E
Asus A8N-SLI
Abit AN8
Abit AN8-SLI

Zalman 7000 AlCu
Zalman 7000 Cu
Asus X-Mars

Antec NeoPower 480
Antec 550HE

i was going to say if your GPU was PCI-E then get the Asus A8N-SLI but check newegg if you can swing it get a 4000+ and a board combo for about 400 USD Antec 550HE is a Psup and will do you well with the 7800 oc

I suggest u buy Asus A8N-SLI, or if u can find something better, Athlon64 3200+ as u said ur looking at, as for powersupply, a 400-500watt should do, heatsink (i dont know just get w/e, i dont have any recommendations, but if u can afford liquid cooled go for it), what graphic card are u going to buy??, get a Radeon 9500 or above to play CoD2 on high graphics (might want to overclock it sometimes). 1-2 gigs of ram should be good.

well, depending on your budget, i don't think 3200 is good enough. my friend's computer uses that and it's running ultra slow. he bought it only last year. anyway, 3600 or maybe xp or fx series would be beter. asus is good company to search for a motherboard, and heating, if budget isn't a problem, go with liquid cooling!

the demo ran perfectly on my +3700. I would suggest getting a bit better processor, maybe 3500 or more.

I just finished a new setup - here is my system

I am finally up and running - incredible difference in gameplay - I avg between 60 to 70 FPS with DX9 and SLI on. If I run DX7 I limited the FPS to 125 and it stays pegged there.

Asus A8n SLI Premium
AMD 4400+
Corsair 3500LL Pro 2048 Meg
ANTEC TPII-550ATX RTL - PS
TT|VA4000BWS RT SVIKING - Case
WD 74 Gig 10,000rpm
WD 200 Gig 7200rpm
Plextor PX-740A DL DVD Burner
MSI|NX7800GT - only 1 so far

Windows XP64 bit
