View Full Version : COD won't install

I just bought COD yesterday and tried installing it today.

It installed the first CD no problem(47%) and then when it asked for CD 2 I put it in and the CD drive started up to read it for about 5 seconds and then stopped. Nothing happens. The CD drive light is on and there is HDD activity but there is no progress in installation. The only noise the CD drive is making is the same noise as a floppy drive reading a disk.

After this point a realized that if I ejected the CD and re-inserted it and clicked try again it would install for another 5 seconds. So I did this for almost an hour and complete the install (i think).

Now when I go to the Single player start it asks for a skill level when I choose one it returns to main menu and does nothing.

When trying MP it errorswhen connecting to a server, something about not being able to load animations.

I checked the size of the .pak3 files and they are inconsistant with what the games specs say they should be.

Any help on the weird installing and the fact that I can't play the game would be appreciated.

I have the patch 1.4, the latest audio and video drivers for my pc.

1.8 ghz
265 DDR pc 2700
Geforce MX 4000 128Mb

Then try reinstall. If it has the same problem u may have a bad cd2. Contact Activision if it is.

Yh, wen u kept on putting the disk in and out, it obviosly installed it, but only in part, and not well, so it left certain things out like you main menu click, also have u tried multiplayer?

Now, thats more like the type of forum participation we like to see Fredo. Just one piece of advice that applies to others as well. Before clicking the final button to post the reply, just re-read the post your are replying to. Had you done that on this occassion, you may have spotted that he had indeed tried MP. This has saved me from embarrassment on a number of occasions.

Ur Disc-Drive could be damaged or not in properly, if it is then try this --

Make sure both ur disks don't have any scratches, and if u have virtual drives (for what ever reason), disable them, wait for it to ask u for cd2 then insert cd2, wait 4 seconds or more, install. If it doesnt work just contact activision.
