i hail from asheville, north carolina, usa. a bastion of diversity (read: nutcases) amid a sea of bible-toting rednecks. that sounds a bit dramatic, but asheville has a strange mix of rich retirees from florida, gays/lesbians, treehuggers, and rednecks. one time, the former mayor issued some sort of proclamation declaring that one day was a holiday because of some wiccan celebration or something. it's a strange mix indeed.

it's a bit cold here, about 18F, and there was a bit of snow today. i still didn't wear a jacket though :mellow:


i was just thinking, perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a codboards map. we have one at hf, just a rather large jpeg map with members' locations marked on it.

When I worked for a season in Alaska for N.O.A.A. on a ship called the Miller Freeman (which was at the time and may still be) the largest Fan-Tail trawler registered to the USA I experianced the coldest weather In my life.

There were days when it was -60 Fahrenheit or -51.1111 Celsius and this was without any chill factor

On one day I remember the wind gusting to over 85 miles per hour or 136 kilometers an hour at -60 which made the chill factor -125 Farenheit below zero

It gets much colder in the Arctic or Antarctic Brrr
