not sure but I think the pink is a mic plug. What are you using to for VOIP Team Speak or vent. I can walk you through a few settings to get your mic working properly if need be just hit me up on MSN or xfire

xfire = colxcrackerx
msn= rjmclin@cox.net

Go to sound settings, switch to record via the file option, click on advance (Under mic) and tick the mic boost box. Should work.

Also.. by default Windows puts the Mic box to mute, so make sure thats muted.

Also, try plugging your mic into another spot..

I need to get a new mic as well, but I like to listen to the speakers instead of the headphones. My desk mounted mic seems to not pick up my voice as well, so does anyone know if there is available just a head mounted mic only? If I have to go to a mic/headphone setup, what do you have to do, put the one plug in the mic jack and unplug my speakers so the other plug from the headset can be inserted?

TOG, try this.... not the best thing but it works.

buy a headset with a mic attached... plug the mic into your mic slot, and keep your speakers plugged into the normal sound slot... wrap the headset around your neck and point the mic near your mouth.. I do that sometimes. It will work, but I personally like playing with my headphones. You can hear SOOOOOOO much more when using them.

But, theres a temp solution.

I got a better idea. Plug the headset speaker jack into auxiliary, then go to your sound card set up and change it to a 4 speaker set-up. That way you can get surround sound.

ok now how do it get it to work on TS?

BritishBulldog1

That is easier to explain in TS, than trying to recall it all here, but I'll try. Once in TS, go to settings\sound settings. You are best off using a press to talk button rather than auto voice (voice activation), otherwise you could suffer with feedback. Besides, auto will pick-up and curses you make lol. The output volume will adjust the TS volume separately from the game volume, so you can turn voice comms up independantly. Down the bottom you have a local test mode. This will replay your voice back through the speakers if it is set-up right. If you can't hear yourself, try changing the codec. There is a box there to do that.

Obviously, the first thing to do is ensure that your mic is not muted and that you have gone to your mic\advanced settings and checked the mic boost box.

ok i have been told that TS runs off a difernt router than MSN.
How do i change this.
Im 14 and know little about this so explain in simple form!
We may be using ventrilo soon.
Does that use the same ROUTER as MSN?

First off, double click your TS icon, then click connect. hit the tab marked web server list, then click update server list at the bottom of the box. If you know the server name you wish to join, you can put it in the filters.

Now, if you can't join, you need to open the programme up for the firewall and that depends upon the firewall that you use. You can usually set the programme up in your firewall exceptions table.

I've not used Ventrillo, so can't answer your question, but from comments I've seen, TS is far superior.

i can join my server on TS but cant talk to them.
or hear them on my headphoens it instea comes out of my speakers.
DOES TS RUN OFF A DIFFERNT ROUTER AS IM TOLD THAT IS THE PROBLEM!

I don't believe the port is the problem, it's more basic than that. You say you can hear them through your speakers, but not the head set. Unless you are running in surround sound, the headset plugs into the where the speakers are plugged in. You cannot run them both together unless you do it in surround sound mode. (Leastways, not that I have discovered)

Check my profile for various ways of messaging me and if you catch me on, I'll bring you into the -MM!!- TS and talk you through it.

I have one of those headsets.

In the back of your comp tower, i removed my speaker jack and replaced it with my listening jack from my headset. Then entered my speaking jack from the headset into the speaking hole.

The place to enter them is about midway up the back of your computer tower. There is a few jacksized holes in a row.

Alright I know I had issues with the back jacks so this is what I did - plug it into the front usb jacks, see what happens, also dowload the latest drives, if that doesn't work, switch to the back jacks, sometimes both the mic and headphone jacks are the same colour try switching them around

In TS, go to settings and sound settings. Make sure it is not set to require a button to press before speaking. You can also run a local test. If it works in MSN, there is no reason to think that the plugs are in wrong, it just needs to be set up for TS.

Ok i have made some good progress.
In Control panel>Sound setup[or audio whatever its called[ i ahve done a hardware test and the mic bar volume bar moves and it also plays my voice back which proves it workes.
The volume is close to max so no prob there..
But i still cant be heared by ANYONE.
I have only tried on MSN but im trying later on 2day on Ventrilo but i dont think it will work there.
Any tips as to why in the setup it works but not in MSN
