Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has this problem and can help.
I have my resolution set to 1028x1024, but when I enter the game it changes the game to 1028x768. When I exit the game my desktop is 1028x1024. Anyone know why this does this?
Thanks

search your cod folder for .cfg files and edit them with wordpad. Find the screen setting and change as required.
Haven't done it myself, but I would imagine that is the way to proceed. I'm guessing that you have more than one cfg file for cod and also for UO.

Hey thanks for the reply. I checked my .cfg files in main and uo and their settings are as follows:
seta r_customheight "1280"
seta r_customwidth "1024"
This is what I want so is this correct?

That looks right to me, but did you have to change them to that, or were they already there in that format? If already there, I don't know why it is not displaying in that mode.
Do you have any mods installed? If you do, there may be another .cfg file in there too.

Hey BritishBulldog1, thanks for the replies. I changed the settings while at the main menu and when I exited the game and went back in, my resolution still changes back to 1024x728. I also changed it in the .cfg file then started the game and still it changes back to 1024x728. Could this be a monitor problem? The reason I ask is because the refresh rate changes also, but it's not always been this way.
Thanks,
RR

Do you mean 1280x1024? (1028x1024 is not a valid resolution)
Anyway, you're changing the wrong setting in your config file. The setting that you need to change is seta r_mode "6" Change the 6 to 8 for 1280x1024.

Hey thanks CosmicBlue, I will try that later this evening. BTW, you don't happen to know how to fix the brightness problem as well do ya? You know, minimize the game and then when you maximize it, the screen is darker.
Thanks again,

Create a new CoD profile in your video card settings. Thats what I did. works a treat.

I'm using a Radeon 9550 card, does this have any special settings, because I changed the r_mode to "8" and it still does it. My monitor refresh rate is 60mhz, but when I join the game, it changes to 48mhz, which then brings down the video settings.

The setting in your config file for the monitor refresh rate is:
seta r_displayRefresh "60"
If you don't have this there, just add it.
Also, you should have two config files - one for single player (config) and one for multiplayer (config_MP). Be sure you are applying the "mode" and "displayRefresh" cvars to the appropriate config file, or just apply to both.
One more thing - Right-click on the Desktop, then click "Properties" > "Settings" > "Advanced" > "Monitor" Select 60 Hz. Click "Apply"
Let me know how this goes, and remind me to come back to the "going dim after minimizing" issue....

Hey thanks alot CosmicBlue, a couple of things. First, I got it to work now, I think it was one of the config files that I missed, because each mod awe, codam, etc., has its config so I changed all of them and now it works. I have my desktop set to 1280x1024 with 85 as my refresh rate, but when I open the game it brings it back down to 60, which is what you posted here.
Second, is 60 the better setting for the desktop and the game?
Lastly, do you have any info on the going dim after minimizing issue?
Thanks again,
RR

You can change resolution in the console but when I did it to accomidate my 17" widescreen notebook with a non-standard 1440 x 768, the resolution worked but the game ran noticably slower and hung a lot. I found it's much happier at one of its standard default resolutions.
