hey all, just wondering if anyone else is experiencing probs running there agp at 8X? I have no probs at 4X, but as soon as I play cod at 8X (only does this on COD), my comp crashes. What the he||? Not only does it crash, it teases me with killer framerates for about 5 min before it does. GRRRR!
heres my specs:
MSI 865pe neo2 ls motherboard
p4 2.8 presscott _REMOVE@ 3.2GHz (thermaltake spark7 cooling)
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT
2 Gb pc3200 _REMOVE@ 400MHz
Im sure its something stupid that Im overlooking but maybe someone else has this prob too.

I don't think that the game has any idea what level your AGP slot is running. Low level hardware stuff like that occurs way below where the game's code is running anyway. This is why the game will run fine on any "next generation" bus, such as the new PCI Express bus which is way faster than AGP 8x.
A couple things I'd try:
1. Make sure you have the latest BIOS for mobo. This might indeed be the problem!
2. Make sure you loaded the chipset drivers for your mobo. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. For example, see: http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=53375 (http://www.codboards.com/redirect.php?http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=53375)
3. Make sure your BIOS settings are correct for your video and for your ram.
4. Of course make sure you're using the latest video driver for your card.
5. Make sure your temps are OK.

There is no difference between 4x and 8x so don't worry. Just run it on 4x. There is no performance loss.
