What are your opinions on vegetarianism? Well, I can understand people becoming vegetarian because they don't like the idea of eating dead animals, but when people say that being vegetarian is healthy, and eating meat makes you a murderer, thats when I get annoyed.

I could never be successful at being vegetarian (not that I'd want to). Humans, like the rest of the animal kingdom, evolved to eat meat. We have incisors, teeth, their primary use is for tearing into meat and muscle.

Cows and pigs were put on this planet to feed me. I mean, if they ran free they'd just get run over by something anyways, those dumbasses. They're probably so stupid they don't even know when they die. But seriously, I think cows and pigs are a big part of the ecosystem; they provide a very important service. That is being my steak, ham or bacon. :D

I'm so cruel.

However, I do love tofu...

I agree Kingox and Ginger. A certain member of Hitmanforum.com (Not mentioning any names, *cough*cough*), says that our lifestyles are 'murderous'. What about these previous, innocent animals, those that happen to be carnivorous?

We evolved to eat meat. I can perfectly understand people not liking meat because they don't like the idea of eating a dead animal, but it is certain that being vegetarian is not a healthier lifestyle.

actually, from what i understand, vegetarianism is much more healthy. that proves nothing though, since you have the right to be as unhealthy as you like. as for the moral issue, that all depends on your religious/moral standpoint. if you're of the atheist mindset, there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't eat meat. survival of the fittest and all that. if you're a christian, there are plenty of biblical references to eating meat, so you can't really say that "god says you should be vegetarian."

personally, i love a nice juicy steak. i don't think that it's right to be unnecessarily cruel to animals, but killing them for food isn't wrong. i think killing for sport is a bad thing, as is how animals are treated in the big farms and such. it's sad and disgusting, but it still won't stop me from enjoying eating the meat.

Let’s do some comparisons of pure carnivores and pure herbivores

Carnivorous animals, including the lion, dog, wolf, etc., have characteristics that set them apart from other members of the animal kingdom.

They possess simple, short digestive systems about three times the length of their body. This is because flesh decays very rapidly, and the products of this decay poison the bloodstream if there in the body too long .

So they have a short digestive tract to get rid of the poison bacteria from decomposing flesh. There stomachs have like ten times as much hydrochloric acid as non-carnivorous animals or more!

Grass eating animal’s cow, sheep, deer live on plants, which are hard to digest. The digestion of this type of food starts in the mouth. These foods must be chewed well and are mixed with ptyalin( an enzyme) and are re-chewed thus called chewing the cud. And have several stomachs their food takes a longer time to pass through much longer digestive systems -- intestines which are ten times the length of the body.

Humans are sort of between the carnivores and herbivores and we are called omnivores meaning we eat both plants and flesh and really need both to be healthy. And a normal adults intestines are about 2 times the body length.

In fact in order to get all of the complex proteins needed for a healthy diet we would have to eat a very large amount of veggies and also very specialized ones.

So I guess it's back to the old saying
too much of anything is not good

And since we have teeth for meat eating and teeth for plant and fruit chewing we should do both for optimal health.

Here cow here cow :P

No offense Cowdoc  LOL

I agree jman, the way animals are treated sometimes is quite disgusting. Aren't some baby cows kept in the dark in a box from birth to death so the meat is more tender. Isn't that veal or something? Quite sad :(

I do like my meat though. It gives you protein that is hard to replace. Vegetarians must eat a lot of nuts and beans to get the proper amount of protein, unless they take a supplement.

It don't really undertand why eating animals is murder, yet plants is not. Its just because animals are more evolved, more human like and usually cuter. If plants had eyes and mouths and faces, then what would vegetarians eat? I probably sound like an idiot, but I just mean that plants are organisms too and something has to die for us to live. Unless you eat dirt... It is true that I would personally rather kill an ear of corn than a cow, but its the principle of the thing.

I did hear that eating vege's will make you live longer though. I watched some video in middle school with Alan Alda telling us the many ways people are finding to lengthen your life (man his career has gone downhill). Some guy ate a huge salad every day for meals and was quite healthy and very old.
