I've come across the opportunity to purchase a compaq presario 700 Laptop running at 1.0ghz. Anyways as I was browsing through the specs I noticed it had 256mb of ram. Though 16mb of this RAM was used as shared video memory (the computer was using some RAM as VRAM). I heard that I could ajust the amount of RAM used for video.

Is there enough VRAM to play such games as Medal of Honor or possibly COD? I know MOH requires 16mb video minimum to play. How does this "shared video RAM" compare to actualy having an onbaord video card in a Laptop?:

How it works it that there IS an onboard video card, but it has no dedicated memory of its own. you CAN adjust the amount of RAM to use as VRAM but only up to the max. of the vid card. In other words the card may only support up to 16MB of VRAM so it cannot be turned up, on the other hand it may be a 32MB card that is only set to 16MB. Judging from the other specs you listed I would say that the hightst it would be is 32MB, find out what the max is and make your decision based on that. I would not get it unless it had 32MB support, but it's your call. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for the information   Would you know how 32mb of shared VRAM would compare to an ati mobility 32mb?

If the ATI had dedicated video memory it would run much faster...
