Just tried out the official Rcon tool we'll be shipping with the PC version of #CODBlackOps =). Having made one myself I must say it's NICE!

Hmmm.....not to sure about this.

I guess it would be nice to access through the ingame menu (like where the voie commands are), but it would need to be a proper full on RCON tool to be any good, no half-heartedness....

Well, I'm pretty sure that at the least it will allow banning AND unbanning of players. I was chatting with one of the devs the other night when he was testing functionality.

Its not built in. It is a separate rcon program.

Here's why this is a good idea - in the past it took a while for the community to catch up and create RCON tools. In the first few weeks of CoD4's release I was using a CoD2 rcon tool to kick people until community created tools come out. I imagine this Treyarch tool will fill that gap.

Second good thing is it shows that Treyarch has actually been thinking about the needs of the PC community and have been working to meet them.

Its a very, very basic tool.
At first glance i can see, i can kick and ban, set the map/game mode (from the poor mans mw2 list of game modes).
You can set server messages, but only if the remote tool is working??? (needs confirmation).

I'm hoping that another party will come up with something better. Something that will allow you to admin the server without having to actually be in the server.
Able to see ingame chat would be a bonus heh.

atm, once your in game you cannot alt tab, or even try ctrl, alt delete to access your remote tool. Frustrating to say the least.

I know Niki over at RconMax (who developed great CoD4 and CoD5 tools) is looking at building one for CoD:BO.

this rcon tool your talking about what exactly does it do? im buying cod:bo on the pc and i would like to know as much as possible :P
