I've posted in other websites, and no help - so I figured I'd ask you guys. Here goes...
When I try to start a game on either Battlefield 1942 or the DesertCombat mod, right after the map's done loading it will crash to the desktop.
I've got some advice from other forums, and updated my 4in1 via drivers. I've also downloaded the latest drivers from the nVidia website for my GeForce4 440. I have DirectX 9.0b, and the game has works previously on the exact same machine.
I have patched Battlefield to version 1.6, and DesertCombat to version 0.7. Also, I installed my copy of the game on my other computer, and it works fine.
I've used the same Battlefield 1942 1.6 patch install file on both machines, but all my BF1942 patches are everywhere. A couple are on some disks, others I aquired from friends, and some just appeared from no where, I assume. I thought maybe one of the patch files was corrupt, but the next paragraph would make me think otherwise.
I have re-installed a few times, and one of the times I freshly re-installed Battlefield 1942, and tried to start a game, and had the same problem.
I went to the EA site, and it wasn't much help. It said the CD drive might be at fault; I tried using my other disk: no luck. I tried using my other drive: no luck.
Any advice/help/information would be much appreciated!
