Yep, it appears to be locked out until the game releases - fair enough. Many people believe that its Activisions Official Servers causing this to happen, however, it looks more like a Steam side thing.

Steam is still showing the unlock date as November 12th - One day after release date. (See Image) This would account for the game still being "locked."

Are the 10 or 15 PC gamers who actually purchased the game now going to have to wait an extra day to play the dam game !? :icon_twisted:

Hmm...

Steam Forums are going against the Steam Website?

IMPORTANT:
If you attempt to activate the game before the retail release date, you will receive the message "Invalid CD Key". You will be able to activate your CD Key and play the game on the retail release date, currently set for November 10th.

Outf******rageous, people are buying this game on the official release date given as the 10th November and they can't register till the 12th. False advertising, I hope someone sues them.

On a side note, I am very disappointed that you caved in and bought the game.

Maybe webbie is just doing research to let the rest of us know how *great* the multiplayer is. :icon_eek:

I had been undecided for a while regarding whether to actually buy the game or not. Sure, I'd been watching various forums, hearing different opinions (mostly negative it must be said).

Furthermore, I didnt even know if my rig could handle the thing.

At the end of the day, I have pretty much exclusively played the Call Of Duty series, and wasn't about to give up on it.

The email from Game about "Special Offers" and the System Requirements Lab test kind of sealed the deal...

Perhaps Modern Warfare 2 will be my "Learning Curve" - not to dive into stupid things - haha.

You learn from your mistakes eh?

How would a custom map, or mod make it any better?

But damn, people really wanna pirate this game.

They give you variety Broken and keep the game fresh and new. Playing the same maps all the time, gets old after a while and new additions to the game invigorate it. They give you something new to try. Would the gametypes Domination, Twar and Hardcore ever have been released as gametypes if the community had not made them first?

What about being shot in the hand and losing your weapon, or being shot in the foot and being knocked to the ground? How about the deployable bayonet? The list is endless.

I have some responses like DLCs - yes obviously cost money! :(

But i doubt that you will be bored of the maps when mw2 comes out immedietly! People can't just lose interest into a brand new game in 2-3 days. I still play cod waw on the xbox 360 with 24 something maps, and i'm not bored of them. Yes it would be "refreshing" to play new ones....

But lets not stray away from the discussion of what the thread was about.

Almost every single game either on PC- Xbox, does come out earlier than the release date. No one can stop when someone will steal the game from the stores and put it on the internet (unless you say - theft will equal death) - immediate drop in theft right there.....

And there are some game types i still havent played for more than 1 hour on waw, ive yet to delve into them.

Well of course no one is going to get bored after just a couple of days Broken. But many do, given sufficient time. Just because you don't, doesn't mean everyone else thinks like you, just as everyone doesn't see things my way. We all have our own opinions and express them. You asked a question and I answered it.

What, IMO, seems to be happening here, is the game developers do not WANT modders in the community, in case they extend the shelf life of a game too long and it hits the sales of future titles. Remember, Activision want a new game out every year and for that to be a success, they need people to have become bored with the previous incarnation. This has worked with the consoles because of the lack of modding ability, so they are reducing the capability of the PC to that of a console, in order to reap the benefits of greater volumes of sales each and every following year.

I sincerely hope that this backfires on them and the console users get to realise that they too have been shafted. I repeat, they should be upgrading the console, not degrading the PC.
