Okay, so I've heard all kinds of things about the best bolt-action rifle to use and I don't know which one to pick. Also, is it better to use the bolt-action with a sniper scope or is it better to take a silencer since the dmg difference isn't that much. Thanks!:icon_biggrin:

I prefer the PTRS (with scope) as you can fire 2 shots very quick and it is pretty powerful. I don't use any bolt-action rifles without a scope.

Scopes are nice and all but when you need to take someone out whos closing in fast without the need of zooming in, a sniper rifle wont save you very often. Don't get me wrong, I love sniping, but since you asked wich the best bolt is im gonna ignore scopes and say its more or less the same deal. I love the Kar, just for the sake of the old glory days (cod1, cod2). The Springfield I always wanted to use without the scope, but now aiming down the sight with it just feels weird - I don't like its crosshair.
I guess my favorite in the end would be the Arisaka, since it seems well balanced and has a nice crosshair. For Hardcore - definetly the Kar98 - same deal except bullets can be fired a bit faster.

Arisaka Is beast for somereason in my first 2 prestiges i avoided it like the plague but i decided to give it a go on courtyard of all places w/o scope i went something like 25-7 ish and never looked back good w/o scope and with

All of the bolt rifles have the exact same specs with and without scope. Damage, reload time, distance to damage profile, magazine size, etc are all identical.
In hardcore mode without a scope, all are one shot kills at any distance. So it comes down to how well you like the iron sights of the Springfield for example over the Arisaka or the Kar or the Mosin Nagant.
For scoped bolts the PTRS has the quickest followup shot.

Its not my opinion. Check out the specs here:

I don't like any of the bolts. I loved the bolts back in CoD1 and CoD2, but in CoD WAW they're just not satisfying to use. They're all too underpowered IMHO. I'd rather use a semi auto.

Yeah, being able to one shot most people is waaaay underpowered...but seriously, semi-autos are nice (my personal fav being the GWEHR) but I think that having the power to kill almost instantaneously is very nice. I mean, even if a guy has a MP40 or Thompson and you have a bolt-action, a skilled player can get the necessary shot off before being killed.

Agreed DD. Takes some practice - but fast reflexes with a bolt can easly take out any rusher as long as you get the timing right. Bolt pwns Semi-Auto at basicly any range. Smg - Mg - All comes down to reflexes as the distance gets smaller but basicly I like my "1 shot" killers. Though I will have to agree that they we're more reliable back in Cod1 & 2.

The difference being, in CoD5, recoil is easily controllable. Even the MGs are really easy to control, for example, in CoD1, guns like the PPSH and the BAR went all over the place when you fired them, so they weren't useful at range. Since recoil is not a problem, many MGs are still very accurate at mid-range.
Also the radar. When you fire, you show up on it, people see you and you'll get swarmed by anybody close to you. You might be able to take down one enemy, but you can only shoot as fast the bolt loads. Bolts are great, but you still need a crowd control weapon because of situations such as this.
In CoD5, you can shoot through walls. If I know somebody's in a room, all I have to do is put 20 rounds through the wall and that takes care of that. It's hard to do that effectively with a bolt.
Then again it's just a matter of preference.

I have been a huge fan of bolt rifles (saying as i still play CoD1 RO). But i prefer non- scoped ones. Even though you cant zoom in as far as a scope you can stil fire off 3 or 4 rounds from a long distance and chances are at least one of them will hit the player being shot at.

my preference with a scope depends on which map, on the larger ones that are more open and spread out I will use a scope for the extra zoom but if its a bit closed in ill just use the iron sights as the zoom will not be necessary to see everyone clearly

Yeah, the thing is though,in CoD1 the crosshairs on the snipers and stuff are close but in CoD 4 and WaW they are really far apart :/

Hmm, interesting posts guys.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to dis-agree with you all and go for the Mosin-Nagant with a Bayonet, would you believe!?
The Mosin mainly because the reload time is one of the best and the damage is brilliant, knocking out people in HC S&D in 1 shot for sure. The aiming is second to none as well.
I said the Bayonet because the silencer is pointless unless you are sniping, and you can't use both together at the same time anyway. The scope is only good for sniping, so if you see somebody running up to you, you are definitely dead with the zoomed in view. This therefore only really leaves the Bayonet, which is like an extended knife so it has an advantage.
Hope this helps, Cod G

Mosin-something is the best i think, especially with faster reloading perk, it rox.

yea.....idk bout the Springfield without or even with a scope. I feel like it bounces too much and without the scope, i find it pretty useless. .50cal is amazing for sure! Also the one bolt action that i do use is the Kar. Its pretty strong and accurate. Good Luck gettin yourself the kills.
O yea...i find it pretty usefull to usse double tap with the bolt action guns because since you re-load after every shot, it just makes it more effective..Try it and c

But wait, taking double tap with a bolt totally defeats the purpose. I mean, if you do take double tap your bolt action is now turned from a one shot killer to a two shot killer, but if you want a two shot killer you should just use a regular rifle which gets the second shot off much faster anyway. Just sayin...

If you like using the scope i would say to get 150 kills with the Garand and use that as a sniper. it is also a lot easier to kill someone close range than a sniper rifle, but i usually take out my pistol.

PTRS is a noob sniper imo, you dont even need to work for a scope? how nooby. I like the Springfield or Mosin Nagant, M1 Garand scoped is best, but its not bolt action.
