hi, i have tried many of these maps with v1.4 and i cannot get them to load.

it seems that the file names are too long. it says that "the [host] is using the mods/[modname] mod ...." only it shows just the first 18 chars of the mod. (ex. "nazi_zombie_deadra" instead of "nazi_zambie_deadrail"

any mod that is shorter works

we have the same mods loaded and are on a lan.
thanks

My advice would be to shorten the names by replacing the words Nazi_zombie with "nz" That should solve the problem.

I'm not sure that's the problem....plus if it's a zombie map it has to start "nazi_zombie_" or as far as i know anyway. The first map that came with the game was called "nazi_zombie_prototype" which is longer than "nazi_zombie_deadrail" so i think your problem lies somewhere else. It might be that the maps aren't compatible after the update or something else....is that the whole exact error message? Sounds like it's saying you're running a different mod to the others but can't really tell without the full message :icon_neutral:

it states,
"This server is running the mod mods/nazi_zombie_comple.
You need to load the mod before you can join the demo."

i don't know what it means by demo, and the map should be "complex".
i am glad that they finally added a check for mods, because it used to lockup if players had different mods loaded.

i copied the entire mods folder from one computer to the other so the files are exactly the same.

before we upgraded to we only had mods with short names (mns, fhs, subway) we didnt try any longer ones

Sounds like you're not loading the mod in the command line.

Yeah, when playing a custom map/mod in Co-op, you must phsyically go to the "mods" menu, then select and load up the one you wish to use.

Should work fine then.

i actually did what British bull dog said, and most/some maps work (i didn't go through them all.) i just got rid of the word "NAZI_". despite what the mod tools website says, you don't need the full "NAZI_ZOMBIE_" prefix.

Thank you for confirming that zombiekilla.

My friend and I have the same problem. When we were trying to play over LAN some mods would be considered unmatching by CoD so we tried testing our theory by shortening the name of the mods by hand.

The first map we tried that with was I believe Complex, we renamed it from nazi_zombie_complex to nazi_zombie_comple and it worked, but there was only one file (the .ff file) in the folder to modify, and the other mods that had more than one file who's name needed modification would cause our games to crash.

The thing is, we have the time and patience to modify the names of the maps, but we're not quite sure how to do it so that they work after renaming. We are 99% certain that it is the name of the file that is the cause of the screw up (unless you consider the actual character barrier that CoD produces that doesn't accept names longer than 6 characters after the Nazi_Zombie_ prefix)

EDIT: Apologies, it was the nazi_zombie_complex map that we modified the name of, that's the one that had only one file in it and that worked after renaming.

Also, the Treyarch forums mentioned that this bug has been fixed for 1.5
