I patched my Call of Duty: World at War v1.1 today, and after a successful patching I tried to play the game, i went to the server list and i double clicked on a server, but nothing happened. Then I tried on other server, but the same happened. I tried using the "Join Server", "connect ip:port" in the command prompt and nothing. I really want to play the game, so any help will be appreciated greately.

Thank you

Hennio

Welcome to the boards!

Is there any type of error message?

You say you have patched to v1.1. This is not the latest version. See this thread (http://www.codboards.com/showthread.php?t=29338) for details of v1.2.

Webbie i think he means he patched his version from 1.1 to 1.2, either that or he got the topic title wrong.

Sounds like it might be a firewall issue since updating, maybe not being able to log on to your online profile so not allowing you to connect to servers....check to make sure you've allowed CoDWaWmp.exe through your firewall.

hey guys,

first post here. but seems like a nice site you got going here.

Anyways, I just installed Call of Duty 5 again and erm, i want to join servers through the console with connect xxx.xxx.xx.xx:xxxxx for obvious reasons.. :icon_biggrin: But when i type connect and enter the IP:Port nothing at all happens. It doesn't go to the connecting screen or anything. It's really strange.

help would be great

( sorry I posted twice in different threads but it is bugging me ) :D

Welcome to CoDBoards!

As DJzz suggested above, check your firewall settings to ensure that CoDWaWmp.exe is "allowed" in exceptions.
Actually, even if it is allowed, "re-allow" it. After a patch, some firewalls will view a changed executable as a "new" program.
Also, ensure that PunkBusterA.exe and PunkBusterB.exe are allowed.

Hope that helps......

p.s. - I removed your other duplicate post.

thanks,

the thing is that I don't have a firewall installed directly on my PC. i've reinstalled the game about 3 times today, restarting between updates, running as administrator, etc. (I'm using Vista 64bit Ultimate). Call of Duty 4, Americas Army, etc run perfect and before I upgraded to version 1.2 i atleast got past the main screen to the Awaiting Connection screen and the Setting Up Game. I assumed it worked but then i upgraded and boom it stopped working.

How about the default Windows firewall in Vista? Do you have that disabled?
If not, check the exceptions there.

If not, check the exceptions there.

Go to start, and search "Windows Firewall."

Then edit settings as required.

windows firewall is off :S Hmmm. I appreciate this a bunch guys, any other possible solutions?

EDIT : I'm just restating the fact that when I type connect and enter the IP adress, absolutely nothing happens. I dont get to the black connection screen. The only thing that happens is that the console closes and it just stays at the main menu. Maybe that rules out some solutions.

Thanks :D

Try creating a game icon and edit the command line to take you directly into a server.

Something like this;

"D:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\CoDWaWmp.exe" +set fs_basegame "mods/mp_HeatOfBattle" +set fs_game "mods/mp_HeatOfBattle" +set gametype hob +exec config.cfg +connect 66.55.155.89:28960

(note, there's a password on that server so you will have to create your own actual line.)

i want to join servers through the console with connect xxx.xxx.xx.xx:xxxxx for obvious reasons..

Ensure you are using the correct command line - you have no /. Perhaps even paste this into the console and press enter (just one of my clans public servers):

/connect 85.234.154.112:2304

Now press enter.

The console should disappear, and you should connect to the server.

Still nothing aswell, I've tried it with and without the slashes...both ways :P But the only thing that happens is that the console disappears and then I stay on the same page

Stupid question but you have created your profile and are online? I tried doing /connect while not logged in to my CoD5 online profile and it does as you say, just goes back to main menu.

Here's a screenshot...

You need to make sure it says "Online" rather than Offline.

Also if you hold Shift and press the console key it should load the console full screen then you can see any error message after typing /connect....so if you do your /connect xxx.xxx.xx.xx:xxxxx then open the console full screen and screenshot it then post that here and someone should be able to give you more help.

Yes, but you understand my point that i'm trying to install this version on a version. That i "got" not "bought" :P. But anyways, it says offline. And I cannot create an online profile but that was not a problem on previous versions

EDIT:

I found another copy of the game installed on my F drive... i have 2 hard disks in my PC. And it was installed in version 1.1 and that works fine. No online account, or anything :S

I assume if you don't have an online profile then you can only play on cracked servers, the 1.2 patch "Fixed command-line +connect functionality" so maybe now it wont allow you to connect without being logged in to an online profile....perhaps you should buy the game :icon_wink:
