"Training with Sgt. "Soap" Mactavish."
Do what Gaz tells you, then familiarize yourself with compass. Proceed to Capt. Prince, the dude with the upturned mustache and adorable SAS uniform, and run the cargoship course. You only have to do the cargoship course once within 60 seconds to satisfy Price.

Get used to the mp5 and g36c and flashbangs for future use.

"Crew Expendable" with Soap.
Follow you squad and use mp5 liberally as you go through the deck and belowdecks. Flashbangs are important, and throw nades like crazy to flush out enemies.
When you reach the objective and grab the manifest, stay right on Price's tail. when the ship is sinking, follow your squad relentlessly and jump over the railing that breaks away. Do not let them out of your sight, and listen to the chatter to get to the chinook.

Tips: 1) Don't worry if mp5 ammo runs short. Some enemies in last area have mini-uzis that provide ammo for mp5.
2) The ak47 is common and this is your first taste for it. Drop the usp pistol for an ak47--the pistol's silenced ability is not useful on this mission.
"coup de atat" whatever the heck it is.
Nothing to do here, just watch through president al-fulani's eyes as he is driven to his execution. watch al-asad take over and take note of the one-armed imraen zakeov, whom you kill at the end of the game.

"Black Out" with soap
Use the silenced M21 to take out gaurds from long range and aim for the chest for easy 1-hit kills. The M203 Grenade Launcher is also a new weapon, useful for groups of enemies. Use your weaponry liberally to take out enemies as you provide sniper support, and remember the M21 can shoot thru walls.
When you reach the rappeling part, go for close-encounters with the M4 in hand and fire without stopping if u line ur sights on an enemy. This will drop them in no time.
At the house where nikolai is held, be swift and take point since Price won't lead the way. Kill without hesitation. Once nikolai is with you, follow Price to the pickup point to finish the mission.

Tips: 1) The M4 works well as a sniper rifle if you don't want to use the M21. This allows you to pick up a G3 later in the mission, a skorpion off the first guards you kill, or simply use only the M$.
2) Practice with GL. This is the first time you get to use this mean beast, and it's explosive punch is good against groups of enemies.
3) Remember to use bullet penetration to hit enemies behind cover. The M$ is very good at this and the M21 sniper rifle can do this at long range, useful when Price tells you to kill the Machine Gunners in the first sniping position.

"Charlie don't surf" with Sgt. Paul Jackson.
Fire all you like during the heli ride into the town. Once you're on the ground, follow your team and Lt. Vasquez to the target building, and take control by quick accurate gunfire, leaning, and flashbang. Mind you choose another weapon from the stockpile in the builing's basement to replace your unneeded M9 pistol, like a good w1200 or ak47 with GL.
As you fight your way thru the streets, check your corners and let your squad support you. Use bullet penetration to hit enemies and throw frag nades freely to flush them out. Always take cover and lean.
The technical (truck with back MG) is easy to destroy. When you first see it, stay back and let it go ahead. When you find it parked in a side area, throw a nade under it and it will explode. Do not neglect to use the GL on the ak47 for a quick hit either.
Once you reach the TV station, get to the door, and work in. The w1200 shotgun shines here and so do flashbangs. When you reach the TV control room with the numerous comps and TV's, hunker down and fight off more than 50 terrorists. If you flank right and approach the way out, you don't have to kill that many terrorists, but use caution if you employ the W1200.
Follow your teammates to the area where it turns out the TV broadcast was a recording. Well done.

Tips: 1) The ak47 with GL is the only way to get the GL in this mission. Remember to check enemy locations for extra GL rounds because unlike the 11-capacity of M203 GL, the ak47's GL only holds 4.
2) The RPG is very handy when less than 50 ft away from an enemy. Aim at their feet for best results, just not at close range or you'll kill yourself.
3) The open-areas are good for the "instant nade heaven trick"--Just get to an enemy position, look straight up, and throw a nade. This ensures the nade explodes when it hits the ground, preventing escape from the blast.

"Bog" with Sgt Jackson.
You have the M203 GL for this mission. Follow your teammates to the building while using cover and providing suppressing fire on the windows ahead. You don't need to use night vision goggles while you clean out the rooms. When you get the order to use the machine gun, remember to shoot the foes thru the wall, and pick up a G3 or dragunov from the stockpile the MG is at.
Follow your teammate to the next section and flank left to get a serious edge on the cowering terrorists. Shoot them watch the overpass for hostiles. Kill with short bursts from the M4 or whatever weapon. When you get the order to use the javelin, stay on the ground to avoid exposure to hostile fire and take out the 4 tanks.
Get to War Pig and make sure your clips are full for the next round of fun. Hold the perimeter until Vasquez tells you to destroy the ZPU, then go to the indicated area and blow it apart. Then place the IR beacon, take cover from the enemy MG positions, and watch the cobra helis destroy them building. Regroupd with vasquez at tank to finish mission.

Tips: 1) Night-vision is not helpful on this mpa unless you like using the glowing lines to pinpoint enemies, but practice this anyway.
2) The G3 is very effective for bullet penetration, better than the M4 because the G3 fires a larger round. This makes the G3 a very effective weapon when shooting through the iron walls while defending War Pig.
3) Leaning is superb on this map for living longer.

"Hunted" with Soap.
After regaining yourself, grab mp5, M4, or g36c to augment your meager colt and chase your teammates. Get to the barn where Price will camp, and take out the baddies pestering an old man. Check for ammo (if you did not take both M4 and g36c) and continue to the field. Go prone and later rise on your way as Price orders, then take cover at the haystacks.
Fire back at the babbies (m4 and g36c best, along with ak47) and get into house once Price says to. Get to the 1st floor and pick off the sorry terrorists with your weapon and mind the flashbang tossed in when Gaz shouts. Finsih off the baddies, claim ammo, and continue.
As you go forward, listen for the newest enemies, dogs, and take them out. Retreat if you hate dogs and let ur teammates pick them off, then advance and salughter all the baddies camping around. Destroy cars to get hiding ones, and use nades. Follow price to the next area.
Stealth is needed in this farm area. Stay with Price or Nikolai to remian undetected, or go loud and shoot the enemies. Flashbangs are very important here, and make your trip to cover as short as possible because the heli has returned and has a minigun aiming at you.
Go through the greenhouses and fight your way through slowly. Most enemies drop ammo, so be liberal about firing. Carfully work your way up to the barn past the greenhouses and take over it. Remember bullets penetrate the wood.
Grab a stinger and take out the heli. It will take two tries. Follow Price to the next area where he calls in ac130 gunship support and finsihes the mission.

Tips: 1) Since you don't have silenced weapons, stealth requires not firing unless you're in combat. Even the MP5 you can pick up at the start isn't silenced.
2) Accuracte weapons are preferable to the MP5 and mini-uzi in this mission, so the ak47, M4 (available only at start), and g36c are all solid options.
3) When the heli starts trying to hit you with the minigun, you can use a weapon and shoot the gunner, but the gunner gets replaced, so stick to cover and try to watch for the heli. This will ensure it has a harder time hitting you.
4) When clearing the way forward, make sure all enemies are down b4 going forward, because a heli and enemies all shooting at you ensures a fast death!

"Death from Above"
No trick to this one. Use the 105 mm for large groups, 40mm for enemies, and 25mm for anything. Don't hit the friendly SAS below and just aim at enemies.

Tips: 1) The 40mm and 105mm can desotry some of the house. Just land a 105 or several 40mm rounds to watch it die.
2) The cars on this mission can be destroyed, particularly in the junkyard, but try not to because a lot of smoke results and it lags the comp, and provides air-to-ground cover for the baddies.

"War Pig" with Sgt. Jackson.
Use the SAw or dragunov to hit enemis from long range, then advance when you have cleared them out. Kill without hesitation and use the RPG to take out the two helis when they come in. Advance with War Pig and kill.
Flank right and take over buildings one at a time and check your corners. Kill all enemies b4 moving forward. If you run low on M4 ammo or GL ammo, check fallen marines--lot of them have M4 SOPMOD with GL, so don't worry if you only use that weapon.
Be slow and take short accurate shots as you go. Don't rush, and throw nades like crazy. As you get to the part where Sgt Griggs says "it could be a trap" go more cautiously and stay behind cover in an alley and use accuract shots to pick off the enemy MG gunners. When you find the T-72, stand back and watch War Pig pick it off, then finsih off the enemies and follow Vasquez to the landing site to finish the mission.

Tips: 1) Use the SAW instead of the dragonuv since you'll be a lot of close-range fighting. Even seasoned snipers admit the SAW rounds penetrate well enough that it's not necessary to go dragonuv until you run out of SAW ammo.
2) The RPG is goo for softening enemy presence b4 entering a building. Just aim at the window, and hope the rocket ends up in their faces.
3) The GL is effective as well, particualrly since you can get a lot of rounds off fallen marines. Use it to pick off snipers, clear buildings, and essentially give your team a lethal weapon. Just be at a distance to give the nade time to arm itself while it's airborne.

"Shock and Awe" with Jackson.
Use the Mk19 .50 grendae launcher carefully with an eye on the heat meter at the right side of the screen. Use it to take out RPG-baddies, BMP tanks, and AA guns as you go. Be aggressive about killing because these baddies can hit you and if you die, mission failed.
Mind where you shoot so that you don't hit friendlies. When you land for the first time, shoot the statue and watch it topple :icon_biggrin:
While preparing to land to rescue the pinned down recon team, pick off all enemies you see. Once you release the MK19 and head out, proceed with your squad and keep to the left, killing with your M4. Do not stop for long since enemies try to keep you pinned down. Work your way to the target building and clear out resistance, and hold your fire as you get to the second floor to avoid friendly fire.
Help the recon team finsih off the resistance, then jump down and hit the building at the right. A lot of enemies come once you move forward, so have a flashbang in their faces and your M4 (or whatever) ready to kill. Move up to the secon floor of that building and snipe from there. Pick up a G3, ak47, or RPD to replace the M9 pistol for some extra firepower, and continue with your team to the waiting chinook.
Kill the last 2 foes who reveal themselves, and board the MK19 again. A cobra heli escorting you takes a fatal hit to the rear and crashes. Command tells you to retrieve the pilot; kill all resistance with MK19 and prepare to complete a hard part in less than 90 seconds.
Use flashbangs, the GL, nades, and anything you have scavenged to busty the enemies so that you team can get up and cover you while you grab the pilot and trot back to the heli. Get her back there, then use whatever weaponry you got left and fight off a mob of enemies as the chinook pilot takes off. Once that is done, watch an atomic blast erupt in the distance come over and blow your little bird out of the sky.

Tips: 1) The AA guns and RPG are the worst enemies while using the MK19. Kill them first, b4 they have a chance to fire at you.
2) Replace the M9 pistol with the RPD. The G3 and ak47 will have to be reloaded a lot, but the RPD can dish out a lot more b4 needed a reload, and you can use the M4 and GL after the RPD to aovid a lengthy reload.
3) Flashbang the last mob of enemies that you confront after getting the pilot to the chinook to get away safely. Nades and GL also work well, alog with accuracte RPD punishment.

"Aftermath" with Jackson.
Poor Marine Sgt. Jackson is alive for 2 more min and can limp out to watch the devastation wreaked by the nuclear bomb. The dead marines are near or in the crashed chinook. Enjoy the scene.

"Safehouse" with Soap.
The russian loyalist tells Price al-asad is in the village and under heavy protection. Move forward with the SAS team and hit the first house with your M104 shotgun. Take over it quickly and remember to call in helicopter support (default: 6) to help clear out enemies.
Proceed out of the house and to a barn. Clear it from a distance with your M4 first and maybe your GL, and fight your to it. Clear it out, and grab the extra C4 sitting on one of the tables there. Go uphill past a few cars and try to C4 the BMP up there, or call in the heli again to take it out.
Work your way up to the next house the SAS team goes at and take over it. Use diligent about checking your corners. You can use the mounted MG in this house to hit another house 100ft. away, but you'll have to get into that house to claim it.
Head downhill where the enemies won't be able to hit you much and use your M4 to pick them off. Break in with your team and secure the house.
Head uphill again, call in heli support on the next target house, and flank right. This puts you in the edge and you'll have an easy time shooting down the enemies as they come to you. The resistance here is light, but keep your guard up.
Head along the fence to a red car and turn left to the last target area, a barn. As you approach, a final batch of enemies comes and tries to stop you. heli support renders this stand futile and with some GL use, it's easy to win this fight. Just fend off the sniper that tries to hit you when you get close, and get to the barn door.
Price throws in a flashbang, kills the last two guards, and captures al-asad. You learn zakeov is the real mastermind.

Tips: 1) Owning is a matter of choice. The M104 shotgun comes with 63 more shells and have a 7-shell capacity, but you spend the rounds very easily if you fire a lot indoors. Get the mini-uzi if you don't want the shotgun.
2) Keep the M4 and its M203 GL. The M4 uses the same rounds as the g36c and many enemies have that weapon. The GL nades can be found at the first house you clear out, in front of the door where the ak47 with GL is lying.
3) The heli support is powerful. Don't get into its firing zone because it doesnt care if you die from tis rockets. Don't shoot the heli either, or it's a mission failed. Instead, use it to soften enemy positions as you go while you flank right or left to get inside and take over the house.
4) Enemies tend to be unlimited if you don't advance. They don't stop reappearing until you take over the house, so advance and don't stop unless getting another weapon or ammo.
5) Two of the houses have C4 charges you can take, and they're useful for booby traps, the BMP, or destroying the cars you hate so much. Other that that, don't bother with C4.

"All Ghillied Up" with Lt. Price.
Follow Captain Macmillan and do what he says. Since stealth is the key to success in this mission, do not go loud, and keep your M21 with you. Kill one of the enemies according to macmillan's instructions, and sneak past the house.
Kill the church tower lookout with a shot to the chest and drop the patrol with the same skill. Go through the church and the graveyard. Drop when macmillan says to when the heli comes, and proceed on. Sprint and jump over the pipe and head right.
Keep going right to the destroyed tank and the huge patrol of spetsnaz and BMP will not detect you. Alternately, bum your face in macmillan's arse and avoid detection that way. Once the patrol has passed you, crawl forward and get to cover with macmillan. Hold your your fire until he tells you it's your call.
Head left, past the bulldozer, to the shelter of two closely packed BMP wrecks. Take out the enemy who comes your way, and let Macmillan get the other. Follow his instructions to kill both men near the lorry without detection. Head into the cargoship container maze with macmillan.
Keep to the shadows, and wait for a patrol to pass you by before continuing, or you'll be detected. Follow macmillan to the congregation. When he sprints out, chase him, and go under the trucks to avoid being detected. Crawl to to the end and wait for macmillan's cue to get out and run away.
A sniper is ahead in the fire escape. Take him out and head up to his position, there's an open window with g36c's on the bed. Swap your silenced usp pistol for that and continue with macmillan.
Destroy the car down there if you hate it, and go on. Macmillan tells you to leave the wild dog alone. Shoot it if you hate it, and kill the 15 dogs that come after you; this is a good place to have the g36c available.
Keep following macmillan to the spot where you finish the mission.

Tips: 1) Going loud is not a good idea with the congregation of huge patrol because of the number of enemies, not to mention the BMP's you can desotry. You can do that in the remaining areas, but if you do, make sure you get an ak47 or similiar weapon to handle the encounter.
2) Knifing the first enemy in the wreckage area is possible, but requires you to sneak behind the dude. I found that if you let him pass, or crawl toward him when he starts smoking, you'll be unnoticed and can knifed his feet :icon_biggrin:
3) Missing with the M21 is not recommended. This gives you away and you'll have to face a larger force of enemies. Be accurate and stealthy to avoid that encounter.

"One shot, One kill" with Lt. Price.
You start off with Macmillan telling you to man the .50 sniper rifle. Take control, and keep macmillan's caution in mind--this is the one point where distance affects your shooting prowess significantly.
Wait for Zaekhov (he has the beard and grey coat) to riase his arms in a gesture of frustration after the heli flies by. That is when you can fire and the bullet will fly straight ahead and hit him if your sights are on his chest.
Otherwise, watch the wind directions and fire as fast as possible while trying to hit zaekhov. If you miss, mission failed, and you have to wait out the whole thing again. If you hit him, congrats, and shoot down the helicopter to celebrate your assassination success.
Follow Macmillan down the building and to the first area with cars. Big Bird, your ride out, is 20 minutes away and you must not be late. Use your M21 to pick off enemies as they come and b4 they get to cover, remember to shoot their exposed heads if they get behind cover. Work your way forward, and grab an AK47 to replace your usp pistol and continue with that in hand.
Go through the apartment complex with macmillan as soon as you can. As you reach the end, where macmillan tells you to standby, avoid detection, and plant a claymore at the door ahead. This kills one enemy. Grab your Ak47 and slay the remaining foes, and check for ammo. Use your M21 on the incoming helicopter hovering a ways off to the left of the exit, and mind you take cover unless you want the wounded hoverer to run you over.
From this point on, macmillan is unable to move and thus you must carry him. Thankfully, he still has his awesome headshot ability and M21, so he's still able to help. Carry him as needed, and get to the next area. Once you see the tangoes' shadows, go left, put macmillan down, and gun down the hunting party. Listen for macmillan's warnings, scavenge ammo from the fallen, and carry macmillan along again.
In this area, put macmillan down where he can shoot enemies coming past the nice tall grass. Cover the remaining areas yourself, and work fast so that you can get macmillan moving. Otherwise an incoming helicopter will force you stop and fight off its load of reinforcements. Get to the apartment complex up ahead past the open gate and move fast.
Walk through it and stay alert. 2 dogs will be inside for you along with a couple of enemies. The claymores you have can be used to set traps for the dogs so that you can avoid getting ripped by them; otherwise, use ak47 fire for effect. Get macmillan, head out, and progress through the pool building to the final area.
First, carry macmillan out the hole and put him down. If you feel mean, shoot down one of the 2 enemies who runs away, macmillan will headshot the other. Put down claymores to catch enemies, and use them all. Carry macmillan forward to the ferris wheel and to the spot indicated.
Macmillan refreshes your claymore supply back to 10, so go and place claymores where enemies will not see them. The C4 you have isnt much use, so place your claymores quickly within the 30 seconds you have b4 macmillan signals Big Bird.
You have a lot of ambush spots to choose from here. 3 ticket booths, ferris wheel, side-snipe with macmillan, the side alley, fences, and cars are all avilable here. The best spot is one of the booths, though you have to mind grenades. The fence works well, but when enemy helis come in, you got a problem.
Choose your spot quickly and ready yourself for a long survival challenge. Macmillan warns you when he sees the first enemy wave. Stand in front of macmillan to keep him from shooting the friendly dogs that come to your aid. Once the dogs are down, loose all your rounds at the enemies.
Be accurate with the M21 if you use it. Some of the enemies in this mission use the RPD LMG, and it is more useful here with its large clip and 100% accuracy when you aim down the sight. Just mind you have the AK47 for backup when you have to buy yourself time to reload the RPD.
Use your flashbangs wisely since you only have 4. Use cover, and don't bother using a flaming car for cover unless you like roast Price :icon_razz: . Be reckless with firing at enemies since they drop many ak47's, RPD's, and mp5's. Do what it takes to pick off enemies, but do not keep running around in the open.
When Big Bird comes in, make sure you dont stand under it or you'll not live long enough to regret it :icon_razz: and run for macmillan. Carry him to the chinook while the reinforcements hold the enemy, and once you are seated, use your RPD, if it's fully loaded, and fire at the enemies. Throw frag nades and any remianing flashbnags to keep the final enemy group from killing you.
Once the chinook lifts, you're home free.

Tips: 1) The M21 serves you well for sniping, but when the final stand takes place, it is not nearly so effective since it can't fire accurately at close range. It's a good idea to ditch it in favor of the RPD when you can, because the larger clip and auto-fire ability make it far more formidable at the close-range fighting you do.
2) The side alley at the final area works well for a holdout position with the ak47, but it won't be a wise idea when the heli troops drop in because they have the fence for cover.
Your best bet is to wait for the heli troops to drop in and kill them b4 taking your fight to the side alley. That way, enemies will come running in and without cover, so they'll be easy kills. Just mind you fight your way back to macmillan when the chinook is less than 1000 meters away.
3) The ak47 is better than the mp5 because of its increased accuracy. The flashbangs are precious are important, so use them only if needed.

"Heat" with soap.

Well I was unaware you could just sprint ahead and stay to the right to avoid being seen by the patrol escorting the tanks where Mac tells you to crawl, but you'd have to run as fast as you can after going through the church instead of staying with Mac and did you actually do it that way on Vet? Also, you left out a key tip on following Mac should you opt to crawl. You cannot look up or you'll be spotted even if you're prone the whole time and right behind Mac. You can also play that spot by just staying back inside the church and even watch them pass by from the church tower.

I assumed after your saying you expertly beat the story you did so on Vet, yet you didn't even mention some of the parts of the campaign where players struggle most. The end of One Shot, One Kill, the return trip in Heat to get to the extraction chopper, and the part in No Fighting in the War Room where you go through the tunnels, particularly the silo tunnels. With the exception of the ferris wheel part of One Shot, One Kill (if you use the proper hiding spot), these parts of the game are very difficult on Vet.

Most struggle with the ferris wheel area because they pick bad spots, but the other two missions are tough no matter what. My spot in the ferris wheel part of One Shot, One Kill is so secure you can actually play it on Vet without firing a shot, but I also use a trick to get over a dozen claymores to place and it doesn't even require cheats. I think it would be cool if you could drop C4 into the silos when you do the All In mission, then later detonate it just before going through the silo tunnels, but I found out you can't do that.

For some challenging alternatives try shooting the chooper down that flys over the church, killing all the guys escorting the tanks after running quickly to the swamp checkpoint and killing the guys dumping dead bodies, then taking out the chopper and killing all the dogs and guys by the truck convoy after going up the fire escape. I did all the above on Vet and it was quite fun. It helps to have the RPD from the church tower when killing the truck convoy.

I read it and it's very helpful, although I still don't exactly feel like single player right now. I'm sure it'll come in handy when I'm back in the mood. Very well written and well thought through.

Well, actually there's a better way to survive the onslaught at the ferris wheel in One Shot One Kill mission.

Note that there are 2 spawn points for the enemy to rush at you. The 1st spawn point is roughly 11 o' clock from Mc Millan's position, the 2nd is at roughly 2 o' clock from Mc Millan (the 3rd will be the choppers). The bots will come out from the door for the 1st and 2nd spawn point.

After leaving Mc Millan onto his so called "strategic" sniping location, go to the 2nd spawn point and camp at the place where you get a perfect view of the 1st spawn point and have the corner of the building to provide you good cover -- don't forget to lay all your claymores near the fence (behind your back) to prevent backstabbers. The moment you see the bots coming out of the 1st spawn point, DO NOT WAIT FOR MC MILLAN TO GIVE YOU THE ORDER TO SHOOT! Use your M21 and start blasting at em' the moment they show up, Mc Millan will pick off the leftovers.

When hostile chopper arrives, you'll have a grace period to change your camping spot. This time go to the 1st spawn site -- right into the door where all the bots spawn (Oh ya, pick up a fully automatic weapon from the dead bodies this time, you'll need it badly). The bots will now no longer spawn at the 1st spawn point because you're there. Now the bots from the 2nd spawn point will come after you. Just aim your weapon at the door and defend yourself till friendly chopper arrives. If you have to break for reloads, throw a flash bang at the door first so that you won't be caugt by surprise.

Both the above mentioned suggestions for the ferris wheel segment using either the ticket booth or corner of the house are not the best methods, esp on Vet. The second method comes close but there's a way you can do it wihtout firing a shot even on Vet, like I said. The above lengthy walkthrough was just edited today and yet it still has a far from optimal method at the ferris wheel and nothing for two of the hardest parts of the game, the return trip to the extraction chopper in Heat and the run through the tunnels in No Fighting in the War Room. Someone else once mentioned the ticket booth was the best place to stave off the waves of attackers at the ferris wheel, yet when I asked if he'd done it on Vet that way he didnt even answer. You not only can't see the enemy from there, if two nades get tossed near the door of the booth you're dead, esp on Vet. Besides that, leaving the booth is a risky unsure thing. The best walkthroughs are ones with methods sound enough to be used on any difficulty level without a high chance of dying. THAT'S the definition of "expertly" beating the game.

Post #25 on this page covers the best way to place claymores and position yourself for the ferris wheel fight.
