From 402 @ IW

Gamespot.com’s Brad Shoemaker stopped by the studio last week to check out the new DLC we’ve been working on and posted up his impressions today along with some of the first screenshots to ever go public from the new maps. There will officially be four new maps in the map pack, and Brad goes over two of them in depth, including the new map Broadcast and Creek.

Quote from: Gamespot.com
The second map we played is entirely new, and it’s named Creek. But there’s a lot more to it than a simple babbling brook. This is a very large-scale outdoor map with a small cluster of houses on one side of it. In the middle, there’s a huge ravine circling the perimeter with multiple levels of pathways up its side. Down below, the trail leads along the eponymous creek bed to a waterfall. Elsewhere along the base of the ravine, there’s a lengthy and winding cave that cuts underneath the hill then out to the other side. As big as it is, there are a lot of places to go on this map; from prone sniping atop the cliff face to hiding out behind a rock in the tunnel, you never know where an opponent will be attacking you.

For the full article with full details on both maps, as well as some tidbits on the remaining two maps in the map pack (Killhouse and Chinatown), and two of the first screenshots from the new maps, be sure to read the article over at Gamespot.com right now:

Also, Spike TV will be airing a special episode of GametrailersTV this Friday at 1 AM that will have the world exclusive unveiling of the third map in the upcoming Variety Map Pack for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. So be sure to check out that episode which will include exclusive gameplay footage from the map as well as an interview we did with them at GDC this year.

Those look awesome. Can't wait for them to come out. :icon_biggrin:

Concerning cost, I've done some searching on Xbox Live and COD2 & COD3 have map packs available. Only one of them had a free pack, but the others cost at least 400 points ($5).

IGN has videos of the new maps. They all look awesome except for killhouse. That seems way too cramped (hence the name, it'll definitely be a blood bath).

I'm not sure why I wondered how much they'll cost; I'll buy them either way.

killhouse looks like its like a shipment style size wise...but its inside (am i wrong)?? does this mean there will be like a shipment without helicopters or airstrikes?? this would be good in my opinion!:)

Good point. It's definitely inside a warehouse so there couldn't be any kind of air support. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

That's $11.25. I'm willing to bet they'll go down in price if you were to wait a couple of months. There was a Halo 3 map pack out not too long ago that cost 800 MS points, and now its free.

I just noticed something...the map pack is FREE if you purchase the 'Game of the Year' edition of the game. If that's the case, it should be free to everyone who's ever purchased the game. :icon_evil:

Which basically means they are punishing the dedicated people that have had it from day 1 and are still playing it by making them pay for it....THANKS IW!

gellard tell me about the price lol. I just spend 17 pounds on an throwing axe and wondered if you still have to pay for them. And what is game of the year edition?

Gellard

if you download points off microsoft you can get 1000 points for £8.50 (dont know how many dollars that is) but the map pack itself was 800 points :)

the game of the year edition is just the game re-released in a few days time, it's exactly the same as before but says 'game of the year' on the front cover, and comes with the new maps, either installed on the disk or with an expansion pack im not too sure on that detail.
