I had made a post a while back on Austinserver's forums about wanting some help with my own servers and posted the servers in the post, I had also mentioned how good the Austin server was and etc..
Leadb*tches removed my post and sent me a not-so-nice PM.
I responded with some comments as to why I had posted, and had not known the particular rule about "Not advertising servers", and searched for said rule and had not found it. ( it is not in a place that is right up front and you have to hunt for it to know them ). One small part of my "retort" to his PM included:
So, if it pleases your highness, I wont post the server's anymore. Just because you have created this site, server and everything, doesnt give you the right to treat people incorrectly.
Which was mild compared to his First PM to me. which I do not have, unfortunately.
In response to that comment, Leadbritches decided to Permanently ban me from the Austin CoD HQ Server. I had never gone against the GAME rules. The occasional TK which happens, but I always apologized for someone I killed accidentally.. I never cussed or fussed and even made jokes when someone TK'd me.
I complied with the Forum Rules, after his PM and made sure not to post my servers or ask for help in learning the ins and outs of administering a CoD Game Server. Some nice folks at OCG helped me.
You may think it is petty to post about something like this, but It just goes to show you what happens when you give someone "power" that has no idea how to treat people and gets it in their heads that just because they "OWN" it, they can do whatever they want.
Do I feel that I deserved to be banned from playing on Austin Servers? No. Do I feel that I deserved to be admonished for posting an advertisement of my servers, No.. not in the way Lead Britches did. Had he said "Our policy on advertising is "(Insert Link to forum rules)", and I have removed your post".. I would have NOT responded in the manner in which I had. However, he was condencending and rude in his PM to me.. and the Forum Rules are not readily accessible, even when you do a Search for them. ( should be on a "Sticky", Leadbritchs (Your Highness).
In closing. My Clan servers follow some of the same rules that Austin Server's has. I still say that it is a good server to play on, without having to deal with TK'rs Lots of bad language and cheaters, on Clan servers we too Keep the "Colorful" Metaphor's down. AimBots not allowed.. etc.. But at least.. you will get a fair shake at playing, and treated as you play.. You have the right to disagree or complain, without the fear of not being welcomed to play on our servers.
