Hosting a game on ps3

Hi guys and girls, would anyone know if it possible to host your own game on a
ps3? Everytime I play i'm playing on a american server and i'm in australia and it makes it very hard to kill people? But when i'm playing people in oz its a level playing field.

Well i dont think it differentiate between he servers.. like meaning there isnt an american server, or European server

Its all the same server, ive played at 2am and there are brits playing etc.

U can host a private match between friends for no XP etc.
