Well ye ha this is the question i got first the game
from a friend who buy it first and my friend let me play it online
with their legit key, all is ok game awesome

now im addicted to the game and finally got the cash to buy
my cod4 buTTT

THIS IS THE QUESTION..
i see in some forums if you change the cd key the RANK is lost
is this true?? if i change my cod4 key im going to lose my
54lvl rank???:icon_sad:
there is a way i can avoid this?

i see in some forums the patch 1.3 fix issues with losing rank lvl
changing server this maybe fix the issue losing my profile rank
in changing the cd key??


please i need help i got my cod4 and i don't want to lose all my ranks T__T

As far as I know you loose your rank if you replace the CD-key yes. How about you swap your game with your friend that let you play online? That way he will have a unique key and you will too and can keep your rank.

ye ha i think that before just im afraid they share the key with other friends >_>
is a really unattended guy .

if any one know a way it will be greatly appreciate :D

There is no way. The ranks are stored in a file that gets corrupt if you even open it. It is done this way so no one can tamper with the ranks.
You can save your configs and your saved games, but not your rank.
If you think he has shared the cd key with more people then don't swap game with him, just level up again instead.

Actually I managed to keep my stats and change cdkey just by doing it from manually from "Multiplayer Options" and change cd-key. I suggest you take backup of your profile folder before doing it tho as it hasnt worked for everyone.

o will try save my files first then changing the cd key code from the menu like yawaddah is mentioned above, any way is my last chance u_u..

if this works then does that mean someone on internet lvl 55 can copy the file send to a friend and hed be lvl 55?

You have to use the backupped profile file and change the cdkey to what it used to be in order to get your profile back. Then start cdkey changing from beginning.

You don't need to go into the file to change your key, I'm playing on version 1.7 and if you change your CD key in cod4 options and then join a server and play for a bit, it will overwrite the mp_data file that stores your ranks with your new CD key and rankings.
thus you will not lose your rankings.
