I watched the film a while ago, as i'm sure many of you have. I've just started reading the book now - and its really very good. It gives you a pretty good insight into modern war.

Anybody else seen the film?

Saw the film once and it blew me away (perhaps the wrong phrase to use)
Like you said, it gives you a real idea of the modern battlefield and how things don't always go to plan.

Seen it. Some people forget it was a "victorious" mission. As in they took the prisoners. Whether you call it a victory or not is an other story.

I suppose it achieved its objectives.

It was a pretty good moive, however i think some things were over dramatized.

I loved that movie. The music was awesome, too.

My mom's friend is a Colonel in the US Army Special Forces, and when my mom and I visited him a few years ago, we watched it. After the movie, when they are interviewing the guys that were really in it, he tells me "I know that guy." My mom's friend Jamie knew the pilot that was killed, said he was a good man.

I would think it would be pretty weird to watch a movie about people you know, right?

Anyways, I thought the movie was very good. I should look into the book.

I've read the book (before the movie was released) and it is excellent. I would recommend it.

I also got to attend a discussion led by Captain Steel, who was the Rangers commander. While they portrayed him as too much by the book in the movie, this was not the case in the book. Either way, he was impressive in his talk and was critical of pulling out of there when they did.

I have also got the game which is worth getting as its pretty cheap if you can find it. The movie was pretty good I thought.
