Noone pays much attention to it anymore, like Pearl Harbor. If it was the 50th anniversary, that would be another story

Very sad that my local newspaper (not local, but most of NJ - Star Ledger) only had one article on DDay, it had to do with Point Du Hoc and the story of a man who was a Staff Sergeant in the Rangers. It was poorly written as it barely went into detail but none the less. I bet every year on there will be less and less stories as the greatest generation dies out. Its sad to say only 5 in 100 kids these days can tell you anything about D-Day or Pearl Harbor except for what war they were in, and who was involved. I'm proud to be one of them.

But I also believe both of these days should have never happened whereas the kids would have had no need to know. Its sad how problems can only be decided through war and human lives nowadays

One should learn from history but... It is only natural that less and less stories is printed in the news papers as time goes by. When was the last time you read a story on the anniversary day of the battle of Gettysburg? Or on the day of the deciding battle of Verdun?
As the generation who fought those battles die out it is only natural that the following generations have dates of their own to ponder upon and to take notice of.

Do not forget, but do not dwell on the past either.
