I don't know much about the military, but I'm pretty sure that you can't start off as a Private and work your way up to a 5-star general. If you want to be a general, you will have to do well academically (Yes, that includes fixing up your grammer and spelling skills).

indeed. to be a general, you'll have to become an officer first, which most likely means you'll have to go to college first, perhaps through some rotc program. as for being a five star general, i can almost guarantee you that won't happen, no matter how good you are. that rank was only created because the british had five levels of generals, and the us needed a fifth level to be equal to the rank of field marshal. it hasn't been used since ww2.

SAS is the Australian special forces, which are an elite fighting unit. We deployed them in Iraq rather than using our standard soldiers.

I knew nobody was going to look at the other topic i had about me joining something so here it goes
Mr. Ralph Chafin
Steve,
Thank you for your interest in the United States Army.
The last 5 Star General in the Army was Omar Bradley during World War 2.
Depending on your career field and accomplishments it normally takes 20 plus
years to achieve the rank of Brigadier General. I provided a web link below
detailing the officer rank in the Army.

Not only are they elite, they are among the best in the world, They are equal if not better to the American marines.

Yeah the army and militray does, But that small group (SAS) is among the best in the world.
I might add they are a very small amount of people in it. You'dd have to pass atleast 3 different types of tests (hard) to even apply. they are the best of the best. Id take a wild guess and say only 1 out of 10 would get in. :D (might be way off)

To join the SAS, you have to:
Perform 60 pushups, 100 situps and 10 heaves
2.4km run with 7kg pack plus weapon
15km endurance march with 28kg pack plus weapon
Environmental testing; testing within confined spaces and at heights
Treading water for 2 minutes, swim 400m in 18 minutes in regular Army combat uniform
Navigation theory, weapons and mechanical aptitude testing
If you can do this, they put your application through, and they think you are good enough, you will be put into an area of specialisation and undergo further selection within a specialised field of the Special Forces.
Better start training bud ;)

Blade

lol - I can already do 60 pushups and 100 situps, and I could probably do the swim as well, but the rest would require some training!

I can do 13 push-ups and 45 sit-ups but the rest id fail
Blade
02-07-2004, 11:01 PM
You'd fail in all of them, because you need to do 60 pushups, not 13, and 100 situps, not 45
