View Full Version : Logo'd clothing....

Idono, but I hate wearing cloths with huge logo's on them.....I only have a converse shirt, and anything else I have is just plain......
It's just basically because I hate how people judge you by what brand your wearing. I don't shop at walmart or anything, but why make fun of someone just because they have pants from there or something?
ColonelChaos007
08-28-2006, 01:59 PM
Yeah. Seriously. So what where one shops in. Who cares. Walmart's da best anyways...unless you go to Mervyns or something.
But yeah I've seen skaters with those large huge Element logos and Volcom signs....it's a waste.
Dascoo
08-28-2006, 02:01 PM
Yeah but I hate it when someone is wearing volcom, and they don't even skate. They just got it because people started buying the shirt.

LMAO Exactly. But still, it's their preference.

I like the small logos. Mostly my shirts and other garments aren't plain anyway - striped of something.

This is why I am in favour of school children wearing a prescribed uniform. Some parents simply cannot afford the latest designer gear. So the wearing of a school uniform stops the mickey taking from those that have this gear, towards those that haven't.
Apart from that, clothes cost enough without me giving them free advertising.

Yeah I wouldn't mind it.

But if school children have to wear a uniform then they can't exspress themselves as an individual... Skater's wear there clothing, Goth's have there own. It is individualality. I'm a skater/rocker and some of my friends in my "clique" don't wear the best $70 shoes and crap, they wear Walmart shoes, they trash the shoes all the time skating anyways, they are cheap so they can get another pair. But also just because a kid can't afford the latest stuff doesn't mean they have to be made fun of. It is also their personality that makes the difference.

Wtf, do that after school.

I would hate to have to go home and change to go hangout, just leave school and hang out directly afterwards. If my school was to make a rule about uniforms I wouldn't obey it, I would still go to school as how I would normaly do.
I wear what i wear , i really don't care much on what the brand of clothing i wear, the only thing i do care about is the brand of shoes , i have to have adidas , not because their "cool" but because they fit my feet perfect :) ( yes once again i know i'm weird )

Ditto - Its bad enough on our non school uniform days. The kids that can't afford much else get mickey taking all the time from the kids who can.

in australia is it a law that all kids attending school wear a uniform. so its not uncommon to see kids "hanging" out with uniforms on. because my schools in the city many people just walk out of school and down to the city in uniform to hang with friends.
now im not being racised in any way but i find thats it the black people that go and spend hundreds of dollars on clothes. and it annoyes me that they complain that they live in hole and have no money. u want to know why you dont have any money? if u didnt go around buying clothes u cant afford then u would have some money. although many girls do it as well such as a friend of mine spending a couple of hundred on sunglasses. thats just the sunglasses.

I kinda agree with you there on the second part. I used to live in a city with some "slummy" areas and most of the people there would wear more exspensive clothing than normal people... But as for the sun glasses it is kinda understandable, the more exspenive ones work better, but iff your just buying for name brand and style then shame on you...
But atleast at my school here in the US, home of the ignorant, we don't make fun of kids for wearing cheap clothing, I understand that they don't have the money for the "stylish" clothes but never judge a book by it's cover.

Unfortunately, I would say that your school is in the minority, either that, or you simply are not seeing whats happening.
wearing school uniforms has several effects.
1. It stops bullying that is down to style of clothing.
2. It provides a sense of belonging to a school community. (If you saw a fellow school colleague being bullied by members of another school, pound to a penny you would want to help your school colleague.)
3. It inputs an amount of discipline (you still have to do things you don't want to do when you're an adult, this is one step along the way.)
Those wishing to express their individuality can do so after after school, although I would question this so-called expression of individuality. Most usually dress in the style of one group or another, so there is, in fact, not an individual style of dress. Most belong to one group or another. There are very few that can claim to be totally individual. Elvis Presley was one, but then he was totally different and spawned a whole generation of wannabe's.

Yeah I think it depends where you go but here all schools have uniform. I personally think it's a good thing. As Alpha mentioned above, on non-uniform days you get it ripped out of you if you're not wearing all the right clothes. God I hated all that at school. Uniform encourages equality and unity. Also, uniform just generally teaches you to obey rules and have some discipline.
I agree that it's annoying seeing people wearing skate labels when they don't even skate (just because it's cool) but still, skate stuff is super expensive. I used to go through a pair of shoes every month and when they're like £50-60 a time, it gets real costly. I'd usually go through the shoes (sole and side where you drag) after a month or so, then I'd have to skate around these haggard shoes with holes in for like 2 months til I could afford new ones. I once bought some Es K3's for like £85 and they were so good and soft and comfortable, but they just shredded so quick. Such a rip-off.
Also trousers... used to get massive holes in the sides of those all the time from where they drag up the board with your shoe, and I'd get loads of tiny holes dotted all over the back of my t-shirts where I'd fall and roll after bailing a stair set or something. When everything you wear gets ravaged, you might as well just get cheap jeans, etc, and maybe have a nice pair for going out or whatever.

Dude, my globes were like 150 bucks, and I loved them. Then gotta another, and another.....but they last a year. So anyways, now since i'm to lazy I'm just wearing some wilsons. I stopped skateboarding so yeah.

I am 100% opposed to uniforms; I really do not think it helps with the bullying. I have attended a many of schools and not one of them was bullying because of someone’s brand of clothing was anything near a real issue , sure some people said a joke about someone’s brand of clothing once in a while , but it was never a real issue. Take for example, lets say a school where threes a serious problem with people being bullied because of their brand of clothing and whatever else. Then let us say everyone had to start wearing uniforms. Do you really think this is going to stop those people bullying that same person? Absolute not, 95% of bullying happens because someone does not fit in, because they do not act like everyone else or do things like everybody else, and in my opinion uniforms does not and will not fix this. Just my 2 cents.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion, but experiance has shown me how the manner of dress does affect reactions. Ever notice how the porrly dressed tend to remain in their own circle and those with the designer labels tend to stick to simarly dressed people. Trust me, it happens. Rarely do you see a poorly dressed person mixing with the better dressed. I use the term better reservedly of course.
You also tend to find that those most against school uniforms are those that can or have the designer clothes. That says a lot.

Well having uniforms makes things a little better.
girls + uniforms = hawt....I think
HoboJoe
08-29-2006, 10:20 PM
But say the uniform required just a pair of slacks and a button up shirt, right? Well the kids that bully other kids about their clothing can still bully them outside of school, but also those bullys could buy dress pants and a nice button up shirt at a designer store while some would have just cheap Wal-mart ones, they could still bully.

It's called a screwdriver and pepperspray to whoever get's bullied.

You can't win - some kids will always find a way to show off their wealth - but schools try hard to not let that happen.

most girls look way better out of uniform and much better out of anything :)
I think you guys are missing the point about bullying.
Just because you have uniform, we're not saying that completely erradicates bullying, it just helps encourage equality and prevent SOME or most of the bullying associated with dressing different.
You must remember that a lot comes with what you wear. To a lot of people, the clothes you wear shows what sort of group of people you are part of, what your interests are, maybe taste in music, etc. It's a symbol to society about who you are. With uniform, a lot of the lines between those different things which seaprate people are blurred or erased completely.
In the end, you can still get bullied, regardless, but the uniform can help lessen the likelihood of it happening in the first place, especially about certain things as mentioned above.

i dont like being a walking advertisement.. i get my jeans from tescos and i wear plain stuff.. other than my converse.. but what the hey they look great :D :P
Yeah labels are ridiculous. They're not even that nice clothes half the time. Especially designer gear. Jesus... you get like a plain coloured polo shirt for £55 because it's got a tiny LaCoste crocodile logo on it. You can get like 5 of them without the logo for the same price somewhere else.

Waste of money IMO. Brand name clothes are the least stylish, if you ask me. They're just plain old boring clothes, but they have a label so they're bloody expensive.
