I am unable to connect to all players or to the host player. Any Ideas? I connect through a router. Should a port be forwarded? This is for a PS2 (not the slim one) with a network adapter and netgear router. I know a lot of you are looking at this, please help. I don't want to have to return it. I got it from EB with out a manual so I need you guys.

Question
I am playing behind a router, and while I can connect to the MP main menu fine, whenever I attempt to join a game I receive the message ‘Can not connect to hosting player.’ What is the problem?
Answer
First, check to make sure that you are not playing multiple consoles behind the same router in the same game; this can cause instability within the game type. Additionally, certain router configurations have compatibility issues with the various ports Demonware and COD:BRO require in order to connect to an online game. If you are comfortable with network/router troubleshooting, there are a few options available at your disposal. If you are familiar with the configuration utility that came with your router (consult your router manual for more information), the first thing you can try is to open up the ports the game uses from within your router’s setup utility - these ports are:

3074 - Main game
2273 - STUN/NAT
27900, 28900 - Gamespy

If opening these ports does not remedy the problem, the next step would be to allow the console to operate within the DMZ/Port forwarding (or some other configuration of the router that opens up all ports to whatever device the user configures to operate in this manner) section of the router; this also must be done from within your router’s setup program. If that doesn’t work as well, the only option left at your disposal would be to connect directly to your broadband modem in order to play.

Oh man this is something that happens to all of us and Often, I blame it on GAMESPY. I have the thin PS2 on a Fast Fast cable connection and I run it through a (brand new) Linksys by Cisco systems Router. I get the same thing 1.Could not connct to Host 2.Could not connect to all Players 3. Join Failed. I unhooked my router and Comp, I got the same things (with the cable hooked right to the NEW PS2). So I sugest you just keep trying and try different Sessions. Also when your in a Game it will say "Game Session No Longer Available" and then you just bounce out. I have also noticed you get bounced when new people hook up. Maybe it's people with crap connections. I talked to other players who have had these problems too. Everyone has them.
It is a pain
