Thankfully, NASA's second Mars rover, the 'Opportunity', has landed on the planet flawlessly, and will be searching the planet for signs of water, which was supposedly once there.
Hopefully, Opportunity will not have the same troubles as Spirit did. The first rover began malfunctioning on Wednesday, most likely because of a software glitch. The rover tries to reboot itself whenever it is issued a command.
Thoughts?

It's probably using a micro$oft operating system.

The news just told me they have issues again, which will take at least a week to get the robot working again... So I'm not so sure about your last statement deLogic... Or maybe they got a dynamic IP from their ISP and now have to port scan to find their robot back :P :P :P

I think it's amazing how they can make these changes from the ground, since the computer is software-based. Although scientists think it will be unlikely that the rover will be in perfect working order again, it is highly likely that they will fix it so it will be close to perfect.
Oh, and they had better hurry up too. Dust from Mars will begin to cover the rover's solar panels, which will gradually reduce the power available to it. It is predicted that the rover will stop working 90 days after it landed, when it's mission will end.

Actually, the technical design gives it that much life, so that was decided by the scientists. However, my father reminded me that a space probe (I think it was Voyager?) was meant to live for a couple of years, and it has been going for 25 years now.
