i think otherwise.............he might of been bad but he was not evil......
he belived in the communist government.......which i think in a perfect world that would be the type of government.............communism failed because it was abused by the heads of government..........anyway back to the point........Stalin was not evil......he may have been bad but he was not evil.......

Killing tens of millions of his countrymen and brutally suppressing the rest? I think that qualifies Stalin for the position of "evil son of a b*tch." ;)

And after at "least" 40 million innocents dead, I think it's safe to say Communism doesn't work.

Heh, funny you mention Mao and modern China, because today's China is quite different from Mao's. After Mao died one of the most influential guys in his government (can't remember his name or position before Mao's death :o) took over and make it much more capitalist, something he probably would've been executed for doing if Mao were still alive.

But of course the USSR and People's Republic of China aren't the only Communist countries. Russia's eastern Commie satellites were all dirt poor (East Germany is STILL recovering from the harm Communism caused.) Just look at North Korea, probably the most "pure" Communist countries in the world. Also one of the poorest and a place where millions are starving and out of desperation a few have turned to cannibalism. All while its leader Kim Jong Ill sits in a comfy, extravagant palace.

And Cuba. Not a very propserous country, especially since it was getting most of its money from the Soviet Union, and dissidents are regularly jailed.

Yay capitalism!

Heh, I know who you're talking about. I can say his name, but can't spell it. But he wasn't a Communist, he was a Nationalist. He was also a dictator who eventually came to power of the Nationalists, the rulers who overthrew the last imperial dynasty of China. Before World War 2 Mao was leading a Communist revolution against the Nationalists. But when the Japanese invaded they had a temporary truce. Then when the Japs were defeated they went back to fighting. Mao won, and the Nationalists fled to Taiwan.

I really believe you have a misfitted view of Stalin thought he was a Iron Fisted Leader that was the only way to be like growing up the way he did. It took vast amounts of years for america to set up a perfect almost pure market economy and to have a Fair democracy. At the time USSR was so large and was surronded by so many different countries it needed a fast Plan that could easily be spread throughout the lands Hence Communism. papa_kulikov was correct on the abuse of Communism with the Head Authorities Communism was a way to keep money circulating and to try to keep out unemployment the only factor left out is that Communism does not include foriegn trade, Therefore the money you have will only circulate. In a communist government you will start with 1000 dollars you will end with it. Also, Communist way to provide Jobs were very obsolite because of the fact they used barely any of what they produced they'd have a factory create Objects from steel and such then they'd have another factory to melt what was made and ship it back to the people who made the objects to remake more. As for the pay a Nuclear Scientist would be paid the same as a custodian. Those are many reasons that communism fell.

I feel though after all that I really was vague on Stalin not being evil but I believe I cleared up alot.

If only Lev Trotsky had taken his rightful place as Premier after Lenin's death, things would have turned out a lot differently. Instead, Stalin's agents killed him with an ice pick, also responsable for the Great Terror, Ukraine famine and Purges of military officers, killing millions.

Trotsky would have been a much better wartime leader that Stalin, he was more of a strategist. He was largely responsible for organising the 1917 October revolution.

Well holy ****! and what the communists weren't corrupt !! Come on tell me that all the same social classes that exist here don't exist there and that some of them weren't sucking on wine and roses !! Corruption is everywhere even the church.
