So I'm in Big 5 yestarday with my girly. I go to the guns to take a gander and see some Mosin Nagants on the shelf. At first I thought they were replicas, but a quick inspection proves they are not. Here's the thing, they were on slae for $80. Holy sheep ****e! Sounds really cheap to me. I ask the sales man about it and he explains that they have them all the time. The Soviet union produced so many millions of them that they are everywhere and cheap. I pondered a moment to consider the prospect that these very weapons may have killed folks since their 1967 production date. Anyhoot, looked like a bargin and a good start to a collection.
Anyone own one of these?

Sweet! That would be a nice addition to the collection. You got a picture of it yet?

No. I have to sell some stuff on Ebay first. Probably won't have it for another month. They have em with folding Bayonet's too. cRaZy

Yes I own one of these.(Great rifle). It is a mosin nagant 91/30. A matter of fact I got mine at Big 5 because their prices are great! I you want to ask me about the specs and general info about this rifle, just e-mail me at killstalin@msn.com, and leave your e-mail adress so I can get back to you.

Yep -- a great rifle at almost no cost...it almost feels like stealing it -- especially since they are original.
I've done WWII reenacting on the Russian side a few times, and almost all the guys/girls had original Nagants -- exactly for the reasons you stated. There's just such a surplus, and they are so cheap, why not?
Ever see a real PPSh? Those things are scary up close...
