What good would the warzone be without arguement right..well luckily I'll be the first to say...I like rap...so screw all of you! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bananaman.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bananaman.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bananaman.gif Anyways..lol..my girlfriend is into rock completely and she's got me into it. I loved rock before but I never went out of my way to find good rock music like her, so once i found it i got into it again and even went to my first rock show recently...but rap does have depth and art..good and certainly bad but it has to be something that your into in your life and you have to relate to it...you relate to the words more then the beat, but the beat and etc come after..and is very important.
There is alot of senseless rap and rap that I really hate..southern rap to me is garbage....but i have no problems listening to any pac or jayz etc...
ps : if you like the song laffy taffy your banned! the song is terrible and a disgrace to the US for being a 1 hit wonder lol. not sure if europe had to deal with that nonsense but jesus..

I'm a bigger fan of rap/hip-hop, than rock. I like both of them, but rap/hip-hop is better clubbin music. as far as musicality goes rock beats rap/hip-hop anyday. but like I said, overall I like rap/hip-hop better, cause at the end of the day, when my lady wants to head out to the clubs....rock ain't helpin me in that department style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif

I'm into both, but I'd have to say I'm more into rock. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbup.gif
Rap isnt music IMO. Its talking in ryme with the same beat...over and over again, usually ripped off from another song. As to relateing to rap? I know alot of suburban white boys who "think" they can relate to it, but in all reality, they are far from it. Just because you wair a do-rag,baggy pants, hat sideways doesnt make you hard, or a gangster, it makes you a tool. White boys who listen to rap make the best girlfriends in prison.
Most if not all of the rap my buddies listen too, is horrible. They rap about nothing of consiquence to my life or anyone besides them. Lets see here, money, rims, jewelry, ho's, cars, and oh yeah money. Wow thats some really edgy subjects there. How generic can you get? Why does anyone buy this crap? Do you honestly belive any of these rap artists would actually hang out with somone like you? No.
If you are going to go clubbin, go to clubs that jam loud industrial, or hell even techno is better then hip hop. Too many people live their life according to what MTV deems cool.
But dont take what i say to heart, im the one who is wrong, i dont go with what everyone else likes, i just stand up for what i belive in. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/gtab_icon10.gif

I like both, rap is pretty good if the lyrics are decent and the structure of the beat is not so monotonous. Usually I get pissed off at so called rockers bashing rap but most people just hear mainstream rap instead of the true "from the roots" rap so I guess I understand that. I also like rock so I'm not really prejudiced, atm I'm listening to Arctic Monkeys which is pretty funky style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif If anyone is unclear, I only listen ot euro rap, not the MTV variety.

thats good that your standing up for what you believe in. just coming from personal experience, the reason I buy rap music is because it makes good music for parties, etc.

You have to look at rap past color and "ghetto/suburban life". People are simply very different and unique, I don't have a problem with a white person in a suburb liking rap I have a problem with imitation.
Be yourself, if the music touches you and makes do things then do it. Don't go out of your way to mirror other things you like to such a crazy degree though.
People also gotta look more then skin deep. We all judge things without knowing or understanding it, its human nature but we have to try to pull from it as soon as possible.
Ever heard of the joke from Chris Rock how every black person in this world can pretend to have a gun and the white guy will believe him? even if the black guy is naked...just what im taking about lol

Every time I go to a videogame message board there is a thread like this, "Rap vs. Rock!" And when I click it, every single time, it's not a discussion at all, it's just an excuse for all the headbangers to enter and then yell about how shallow rap music is supposed to be and how much they hate "wiggers."
None of them ever name any rappers of course, because they don't know the names of any, and if they do, it's usually a very short list of Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and 2Pac. And they get this (apparently burning, raging, supreme blood lusting) hatred of rap music just from happening to hear some as they flip through TV.
Basically, if you're going to bash something you know nothing about, you are ignorant by defenition, and shouldn't be offering opinions on rap music in the first place, especially commenting on its "depth" when you haven't even listened to an entire song before, let alone try and take in the lyrics.
There are thousands more rappers and groups and producers and styles and regions and subjects and tones in hip-hop than golden teethed southern rappers and tatted-up thug rappers.
There are rappers who rap about how much they hate their job and how working live sucks, there are rappers who rap about how the government is out to get them, there are rappers who rap about comic book villains, there are rappers who rap about alien technology, there are rappers who rap about how much they hate other rap thats on MTV, there are rappers who rap about the holocaust, there are even rappers who rap about how much they like metal! All with vastly differing sound, tone, and lyrical complexity.
All I'm saying is stop being tools and do your homework before you start blindly hating stuff. I know nothing about Industrial music except what I've heard in passing (just like all you and hip-hop) and I'm not about to hate it or give my opinion on it because I know nothing about it. An opinion based on ignorance is worthless.

Wu Tang Clan is the Best american Group out.
The Rolling stones of Rap

Rappers get more Ass then rockers.
Rock music sings about pain and complaining and blah.

rap is ok. i used to listen to it all of the time. then i was forced to listen to tool and i changed instantly. i listen to all kinds of rock now but rap just seems too monotonous. fun for parties, yeah, but its so shallow. its all about gettin booty and ya grillz and ice and stuff and there is no way i will isten to it unless i am dancing to it. its great for dancing. better than rock in the dancing category. i just cant stand the steady thump thump unless i move to it. so yeah. rock on man, cuz here we come!

TIME TO FLAME!!! ahhh nah j/k - this is the most sensible post ive seen regarding this subject in a long time.
I have been a metal head since the early 90's.. before that I listened to old school rap (DMC, Easy-E, Fat Boys, LL, salt-n-pepa... you know the type) but i heard metallica once and it just suited me. Since about 2 years ago, i have learned to appreciate rap as well... i dont buy any, and i rarely download any, but it definitely hits hard in the car style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif I will say that i prefer rock over rap in any situation. But every now and then, i need a change of pace, and while flipping through the radio stations, ill stop on a rap station and just enjoy the beat.

Its an example but if its a song I like..then I like the rapper's style.I could say I like all white rap or I hate all black rap but just because i don't listen to Black rap doesn't make me Public Racist #1.
I'll fix it then..I only like Eminem's style of music..I dislike all other Rappers,no matter if they are hispanic, asian,Caucasian or black...Happy?
