Windows or Mac?

I voted Mac to every question...but im not thinking to change OS to Mac as im quite happy with my Windows Xp.

I would have done but I know really that there are at least 10 times as many games for PC than Mac. However, the games for Mac OSX are better and run more smoothly than on Windows.

Still no linux? Come on now. I voted for windows out of spite! Nah i only voted for windows for games. Like i said in the last poll, Mac will never have Dx10, so no, mac isnt better for games in my opinion. As for every thing else, i go linux. Never been a fan of Macs. Yes they are great for 3D workstations ill give them that over linux, but that is because its an almost locked market, just like windows has done with games.

Linux just isn't it for games at the moment, there are some programs to emulate windows games on linux - but they're often 'bitty' and not all there.

I think he ment that most games are made to Windows and not to Mac. Also you cant get every PC game working on Mac I think.. remember too that most games are optimized for Windows.

I did not realize there were many games out there for Macs? I am a Windows guy all the way and honestly am ignorant as far as macs go. The last one I used was in 1985 where the little screen was attached to the cpu.

In my experience people who use Macs feel really strong about there computers. And really hate anything else. My freinds wife is like a Mac-Nazi. If she could destroy all Windows based pc she would. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif

Not surprising really, when you consider windows was based on the mac version of the time. In other words plagaurised. Then again, some would argue that the mac version was plagaurised from the Commodore!

Windows does suck ass, this i know. Mac freaks just bug me in general, not you in particular Psycho, i wub you. But when there are alternitives to Windows and Macs i use them, such as FreeBSD, Unix, Sparc, or my favorite Linux. Or how about GNU, which stands for Gnu's Not Unix.

I'm going to become really unpopular to my girlfriend when I say this because she is not only a mac user but a mac freak...macs suck.

It's not that the product itself is a problem it's simply the fact that it doesnt go with the community well except for small groups with certain purpose that have a spacific use for it..mainly design users and such forth...

But lets all be real...operating systems are products that are only as good as the community it can take you to. Windows can take you anywhere, Mac's cannot.

So before people post stats on what macs can do and what not once again its not because the os itself sucks, the community in the start simply choose windows (and trust me they did it for a reason..) and over the years every single program evolution has went for windows..so basically mac is screwed.

Both mac's and pc's can produce great amounts of high end expensive hardware that will be 10 times better then what you need...if you have the money of course.

So unless your formating every day because you haven't earned via trial and error on how to lock down your computer safely then buy a mac, but for those who want to actually do things you have to have windows.

What I don't get is why do so many people trash it, and use it religiously. Windows users saying it sucks when they put their work, time, and fun into it religously..complain becuase its not perfect? If your ever waiting in life for anything to be perfect..your going to be waiting a long time..

At least if your going to trash windows please dont post about it on a windows pc...thats like wearing a stupid shirt that you think looks stupid, going to people and bitching about how stupid the shirt looks.

I don't know if you all remember the VHS vs. BETA wars of the mid eighties but I went for the Beta because I knew the Beta vcr was the better machine but I lost anyway because shortly after my decission to go beta it became difficult to even rent a current movie in Beta...So I guess what I'm trying to say is I wouldn't buy a MAC for fear of getting burnt again... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif ( well as far as the games go anyway)..

My brother-in-law is a music professor at University of Toronto and swears by his Mac for his field, but when I ask what he uses it for I find myself saying, "Well Windows can do that".

I think there is a definite snobbery about the Mac which in turn keeps its prices higher and keeps the upper crust thinking they've got one on the lower forms of life as in BMW vs. Hyundai ... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

imo, it all depends what you do, or want to do. if you just like games, then definately go for the pc, as they are more upgradeable and better for games. if you want to do music recording or graphic design, then go for a mac. i like windows better as they are much cheaper than macs and are more upgradeable. the thing i like about macs is that they do not crash as often.

As I said, there is currently nothing windows are better for than macs than introducing to primary school childeren. Anything they do, a Mac can do better. As for gaming, the new Macs play mac games and any windows software now, as they use the Intel Core Duo (http://www.apple.com/imac/). Nothing can beat the power.

No offence intended, but don't you need to install windows on the intel driven mac to be able to play games like HL2?

By making the mac windows compatible, I think the mac probably is the better comp now.

With Dx10 right around the corner, Mac will be left in the dust with openGL. Dont get me wrong, i love openGL, but its open source, and it doesnt have the financial backing like microsoft has. Sure you will be able to play some of the same pc games, but with less effects and eye candy for the gamer. But im guessing Mac will still hold the 3D workstation section of the market for a while longer, as well as the majority of the music mixing/editing market to boot.
