The only WW2 movie i know of or seen is wind talkers, so i will say that one.
But if we were talking about all war movies i would say "we were soldiers"

The only one I've seen is Windtalkers, but that is the most pointless, most violent movie I've ever seen, so yeah...
Kingox
01-19-2004, 02:18 AM
I don't see how it was pointless, It tells the story of the Wind/Codetalkers, and how secret the code is. To this day has not been brocken.
Blade

Yeah, I know it has some meaning, but it is much too violent for my tastes.
Billy The Mountain

And it is only a mere flicker of real war and the he|| it is.
Watch a true story with the real Hero in it. In fact the single most decorated American hero from any war and still to this day.
Audie Murphy
The movie is called To he|| and back
Tony Montana

Enemy at the gates by far...
But I could watch any war movie. So long as it has meaning, and doesn't turn into a sappy romance story.

Yes.
Favorite WWII movie should be Enemy at the gates, but there are plenty of russian WWII films I enjoy a lot, even without the multi-cash budget "Saving private Ryan" had.

No.
Here's an explanation, fit for americans.
The city, that was under siege, was called Stalingrad. Obviously, named after Joseph Vissarionovich Djugashvili, widely known as Stalin. That same lad's first guest appearance in the world history books, was with his superior Vladimir Ilich Lenin, during the October revolution in 1917, one year before WWI is over. Hence, despite the vast amount of cities/villages the Russia has, I doubt anyone would rename a major city after some random Bolshevik dude, who will become someone around 1922, and widely known in 1924, after Lenin's death.
EDIT: Well, there's another example \/\/\/\/\/\/

Pearl Harbour was awful. Makes historians commit seppuku in one scene, two scenes for everybody else.
My favourites are probably The Great Escape (can anyone tell me why this is always shown at christmas? It has nothing to do with christmas, at all!), Saving Private Ryan, Enemy At The Gates, A Bridge Too Far and Bridge Over the River Kwai.

I forgot what it was called, but its an old movie. Massive tank battles between germans and americans I believe. The germans lose because they run out of gas. Its a great movie though :)

SPR was alright -- I mainly watch it for the first 20 minutes. After that, it kinda slides into a 'generic' war movie.

what about Patton, my memory is a little sketchy so i don't know the title. or A Beautiful Life. U-571 was another good WW2 movie. Go read or see the movie The Caine Mutiny also. The Thin Red Line is another good one. Another is In Harm's Way. You guys stink, cuz all you think about is Box Office sellers. you need to go to the video store and find the ww2 section and watch these good movies.
Oh and the ***** about Enemy at the Gates being WW1 is just idiotic. And there is no you could be wrong, YOU ARE WRONG!
LtSounders

WW2 movies are not about entertaiment, and getting a kick out of blood and gore, they are trying to portray a message and an image on how it really was.

03-09-2004, 05:10 PM
Well if we are going for that angle then u 571 was a load of bull****, as it was the british : that recieved the enigma machine. sorry but that is hollywood film making at its best........ :tweet:
No offense of course

Another thing, i have watched patton and i have to say it was really good!
Lt.Sounders you were on a winner....films are not just about blood and gore....although some added is always a treat......it is the story behind it that matters....questions should be asked like "Have the film makers got it right or have they made a t|t of it?" lol

Of course Das Boot for when I'm in the mood for reading subtitles ;)
I love Das Boot, the long 8 hour version is outstanding. Still have it on Betamax :)
I would also recommend Das Brücke and some of the Finnish WWII movies are also outstanding. Tuntematon Sotilas springs to mind, as oes Framom främsta linjen.
