01-16-2004, 08:19 PM
Ooh! Barrie! I've been there just recently on my road trip, nice place you got there. Don't ask where I am... well, I'm in Winterpeg, Manitoba. We're just going through a bad snow storm with 10 cm of snow and horrific temperatures.
papa_kulikov
01-16-2004, 08:22 PM
whats the temperature there???????it's like -35 here.......
genesis
01-16-2004, 08:36 PM
haha you're much more colder than we are. It was -30 uptil this morning but snow warmed everything up a bit, now it's -8 I think. But tomorrow it'll be back to -30
Yuk, grocery day. :(

Damn right you are! Definitely the best country.

I'm from the state of Queensland, Australia. If you want some place warmer than Canadia, come over here - instead of -35 celcius, you get 35 celcius :
Sometimes I wish I lived in Canada because it is so cold  but my father has been over there heaps for business trips, and one time he was over there a guy died going for a walk in the street
Nah... Australia is the best country by far :P - good at sports, good rising economy, good lifestyle, etc :D

Blade

Are you kidding! I'd rather freeze in Canada any day
I've been to the snow a few times, and it is soo cold... I love it!
papa_kulikov

but day after day.........it gets pretty bad..........but i still love it :D
genesis

I love snow, it actually warms up the temperature. What I hate is ice on the streets. Just a few days ago a car flew right by me missing me by 5 feets or so at a speed of over 80Kmh. Now that's scary and you don't wanna be in that situation.
papa_kulikov
01-16-2004, 09:15 PM
that isn't very good....... ........
Blade
01-16-2004, 09:20 PM
Do they have any methods of removing the ice over there?
genesis
01-16-2004, 09:50 PM
Yeah! Well not 100% but it gets slushy by pouring salt and sand mixture. There are usually big trucks going around in the morning.
Blade
01-16-2004, 10:10 PM
Yeah - I heard about the Canadians using salt. At the Australian snowfields though, they have to use gravel (even though salt is better), because the salt damages the environment (which is very fragile over here!)

Yeah - I heard about the Canadians using salt. Using salt on cement/concreat road is also bad because to rusts to steal used to reinforce them. :D

Not on all roads, Im not sure about queensland. but on the huge highways going into the citys, sydney, they use concreat, I think because its a better ride. But yeah still 90% of the roads would be b*tchumen.
Blade
01-16-2004, 11:31 PM
Yeah, wherever I have been they use b*tchumen, it is pretty good, but it melts on a hot day, and hurts alot when you fall on it!
genesis
01-16-2004, 11:37 PM
Salt makes everything slushy, it corrodes your car and you have to use windshield washer a lot but gives your car a lot of grip on the road. I can't think of getting my car slipped, though I just slipped through a red light today, it was scary.
I'm not a bad driver but things happen, specially in this kind of weather.

Iv always rathered concreat road to b*tchumen road, not sure why.

Pfff... Considering you have 300 million people compared to 20 million, and we can beat you or come close in sports like swimming, tennis, and Rugby Union, I think we are in a pretty good position :D

We don't even hear of professional ice hockey over here... lol
Wasn't there a Rugby World Cup match between Canada and the United States? I forget who won, but it was close, because it came down to a try conversion at the last minute, and it was really tricky. The kicker just missed it, and it lost them the match.

46 degrees? :o
When a hitwave of 40 degrees hit countries like Germany and France, thousands of people died... I'm pretty sure 46 degrees would be on the edge of being bad to your health :(

What makes you say that?
If anything, Australia will get colder in the very long term, because it is moving closer to the South Pole ;)

Its not going to get any closer to the south pole in the next 50 years to make any kind of difference. They say it is going to get hotter because the weather is following a trend, somthing like since the 80 or what ever every year it has been getting more hotter and more dryer then the year before, thats why they think it is going to get hotter.
Blade
01-25-2004, 11:42 PM
Did I say 50 years? I meant 50 million years  ;)
That's fair enough, I was just wondering why that was so.
