World War I has been pushed under the rug for alot of Americans and historians these days. It is considered a result of Germanic aggression by those who know something of it, which is only partially true. It started when the Austrio-Hungrian Archduke, Francis Ferdinad, was killed by a Serbian group called " the black hand". The Austrio-Hunagrians retaliated by declaring war on Serbia. Russia then mobilized its army to defend its fellow, Slav's, the Serbians. Thus, the Eastern front.
The Western front was much different, with the Germans, having long territorial disputes with the French in a series of Franco Prussian Wars, saw the window of oppertunity and enacted the Sheliefen (Sp) plan which main goal was the sacking of Paris. It was only partly successful.
Now, skipping ahead a little bit, it is time to start beating my favorite whipping boy, the English. America, with an influx of German immagrants living in it, was not predisposed to join the "allies", but more so to maintain its Monroe-era isolationist stance. That wasnt ok for the Brits. In their arrogance, to get America into the war, they violated America's sovriegnity, lied to us, and conspired against us.
First point, "violated America's soverignty". In the use of the inter-continental telegram line, dialogue, as set up in a treaty, the was destined for America was to be seen by Americans only. When Germany sent the Zimmerman telegram, a telegram calling for Mexico to enter the war, was seen by the British first as they were basically spying on our mail. The UK, with its interest in getting us into a war that was none of our concern, illegaly spied on us and violated our privacy, and, in a way, soverignty. This they denied. Thus, they also lied to us.
Second point. The Balflour declaration. The Jews, in order to eventually secure their homeland, told the British of a horrible holocaust occuring in Russia (Lucky number 6 million was the dead count they claimed.. awfully similiar to their WWII holocaust numbers...). The powerful Jewish bankers and elite in America assured they would flew their muscle and get America into the war if Britian sided with their zionist intentions. Thus, they conspired with zionists in our own country to work against us.
Hate to sound one sided, but the loss of tens of thousands of American lives over what, in the end, was nothing more than a usual European land struggle that had been occuring for hundreds of years that occured as a result of our biggest "ally" lieing to us is not acceptable, and not only that, but the UK has the nerve to complain about how long it took us to help them..
